Skips, skips and more skips!

Well, I should have known that everything was going too well on the quilting front! Yesterday evening, I loaded a lap quilt on the frame and I had this big idea that I would use HIGH LOFT batting and a FLEECE BACKING, I thought that would be soooo warm and snugly. Well, I'm sure it would be if I could get the silly thing quilted! I started quilting it and my machine was skipping like crazy! Big skips.....like.....one inch skips!!! I know that it is a combination of the high loft batting and fleece backing because my machine had been quilting just fine and I also pinned on a small piece of a quilt sandwich beside it, with high loft batting and regular cotton fabric on the back and it quilted great! So I guess it is the fleece or a combination of the two.

So anyone have any ideas on adjusting tension or anything. I adjusted it a little but I really don't want to get my machine out of whack too much. If I can't figure it out soon, I will just take it off and figure out something else to do with it.

We got some snow the past couple of days and right now it is sooooooo cold out there. Don't want to go out too much, everything is frozen and I don't want to take a chance on falling. That is all that I would need to do is fall. I am just now getting my legs straightened up and don't want to fall again. Same thing with mom, she doesn't need out in it either. So we have been calling each other this morning instead of visiting each other.

Our school system did have school this morning but the bus did not run up our hollow (road). Giggle....I'm from KY so I don't actually say "hollow" I say "holler" Anyway......they did not go today. Hunter has been being lazy and watching tv and also playing with some "homemade play dough" that we made earlier!!! If I had known that he would have that much fun with it I would have made it a long time ago.

Here is Hunter all snuggled up under some quilts in the floor while watching cartoons. If you look real close you can see part of Jazz sticking out. He was snuggling under the covers with him, but had his head completely under the quilts.

Here is a closer view of Jazz...
Also here is a photo of Festus that I took last night. He was sleeping in the recliner with Richard. When I took the photo, the flash woke him up and he grabbed the camera string and tried to play with it. He sure is a playful little thing.
Anyway....break time is over! I need to try and figure out something to do with this quilt on the frame...

Oh, I would love a snow day! It was really cold here too. I hated to make Cade get up and out the door! Hunter looks warm and comfy!
Good luck with your quilting! Stay warm!

I wish I had those days back for just a while. (when my kids were little). I remember making play dough too and my boys always loved it. Good luck on your quilt. We had about 3 cold days here in the Pacific N.W. but now we are up to 45 degrees, and the rain is coming! Good luck with your quilt.

I don't have any words of wisdom to offer on the quilting. I hope you got it figured out now. I know how much of a pain it is when the skipping starts. UGH!!!
