Eleven years ago today...

Eleven years ago today, the Lord Blessed me with a precious baby boy that we named Dakota Hunter, better known as Hunter.  I thank God everyday for letting me be his mother.  He makes me smile everyday....and sometimes cry.  LOL!  I am so proud of the young man that he is growing up to be.

He is a little sweaty in this photo but it was taken yesterday evening while he was outside playing with a few of his friends.  I love him sweat and all. LOL!

I should be back online now with no problems!  Yay for me!  I've missed posting and reading blogs so it will take me a while to catch up with what everyone has been up to.

This afternoon will be spent finishing up things for a yard sale that my sister and I are planning on having tomorrow.  I have most of the stuff bagged up and ready but I still have some stuff in the outbuilding that I need Richard to help me get out.  Fingers crossed that we have a successful sale.  I really need to get rid of this stuff and also a little extra cash is always nice too.  I have 12 big trash bags full of clothes and most of them are Hunter's that he has outgrown.  I figure that I will take all of the clothes that I don't sell and donate them so that I don't have to bring them all back home.  I have lots of household stuff that I hope to get rid off too.

Of course, I will have to dig out a hand project to take with me to work on while we are having the yard sale!  :)

Have a wonderful and Blessed day!

Thank you...

Thanks for all of the prayers and special comments this week.  It has been a long hard week.  I'm spending some time with mom, as you can understand she is having a hard time losing her mother.

We buried my grandmother Thursday.  http://wilsonfuneralhomeky.com/online-obituary/2013-06-mary-lee-conley/10066728

As I mentioned in my first post, she had a car accident.  The accident actually happened somewhere around 8am.  She was never up that early so who knows where she was going.  The report said that she was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, never even hit her brakes when she left the highway.  The first person to stop said that she did know her first name and age but couldn't remember her last name but I guess that could have been from shock.  She also wasn't wearing a seat belt.

At the local ER, she seemed to be somewhat confused but she also had a hard lick to the head.  Some of the family said that she didn't even realize that she had an accident.  That might have been from shock too...who knows.  She did tell my sister that she loved her.  The local hospital said that she had 8 broken ribs and a SLIGHT concussion.  The shipped her out to a trauma unit across the state line in WV.  They said that she had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest on the way and was DOA.

At this point, my mom was still about 2 hours away.  The hardest thing was to call and tell my mom that her mother was gone.  I can still hear her screaming.  Another employee drove my mom in and I am so thankful that someone was with her.  My sister and I met her at the office and took her to the hospital where the rest of the family was waiting with the corner.  Needless to say, this was very hard on her.  If I had not have known it was my grandmother, I would not have recognized her.  She had a lot of head trauma.

So in the end, the funeral home said that she had 8 broken ribs, a crushed forehead, broken jaw, and broken neck.  She was 74 years old.

The whole family had a hard time with the loss, she had 7 girls, 5 that are still living.  My mom kept asking about her time of death, she was just frantic and for some reason she just needed to know.  The corner came to her and told her that it was 3:16pm.  At that point all mom could think of was, JOHN 3:16.

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

That verse was read at her funeral.

I just want to say "thank you" to you all for the prayers and kind words through all of this.  A person just never knows when it is there time to leave this world, so it pays to be ready.

my grandmother

My grandmother has passed away...

Prayers Please...

I hope this posts, I've tried twice...

Please remember my grandmother in your prayers.  She had a car accident this morning.  She flipped her car and went over a 30ft embankment.  At this point all we know is that she has a concussion, lots of swelling on her head and face and 8 broken ribs.  The local hospital is shipping her out to another trauma unit about an hour away.

Also please remember my mom, she is on her way in from the Mississippi River.  She knows about the accident but now doesn't have cell signal where she is, so I'm sure she is very worried because she can't get updates.

Thanks so much

Hey there!

Hey there, did you miss me??  Thanks so much for the many emails that I have received.  I haven't been posting mostly due to computer issues but also just life has been busy.

I've tried to type this post a half a million times but my silly computer does not want to post it.  Occasionally, I can check my emails but can't really respond to them.  I can't even load photos.  This computer is close to 300 years old!  LOL!  A new one is just not in the budget right now.  :(

Hunter is doing a lot better with his foot.  Still having some issues but nothing major.  I have been going to the chiropractor 3 days a week and something was brought up in the conversation about Hunter.  I was telling him about Hunter's problems and he suggested that I bring him in for an adjustment from head to toe!  So I did and let me tell you that was the best thing that I could have ever done for that child!!!  X-rays showed that his pelvis was unlevel, which made his back extremely curved and one leg shorter than the other, which they all sorta made each other worse.  Hunter had been complaining about his legs and back but his major problems was in his foot.  So after that first adjustment he was SOOOOOOO much better.  It made a major difference in his pain.  I felt the same way after my adjustments.  Of course the first thing that I did was, thank the Lord and then gave the doctor a big hug.  It was hard when Hunter was crying from pain and I couldn't find anything to ease it.  So we are making the trip 3 days a week to town for our wonderful chiropractor appointments!  Love them!!!!

As far as everything else.....I know it may sound silly but I am a "schedule type of person" and having to go in to town 3 days a week has completely messed me up!  I'm finding that I can't find any extra time to quilt!  LOL!  I keep wondering how I quilted when I worked full-time and had 2 younger kids!  Also summer is here and I have been spending a lot of time on my front porch doing nothing but listening to the birds sing and watching the squirrels play.  I love it.

My quilting machine croaked so I had to send it off to be fixed, got it back and it still is not right!  UGH!  I occasionally go upstairs to try to adjust around on it but it is so hot up there that I just get aggravated and give up.  Not sure what I am going to do about that yet.

I guess this all that I will type right now.  I don't want to type a book only to find that it will not post.  Fingers crossed!!!  BTW...about the only thing that I can open on my computer is Facebook so I have been on there some, so if you have a Facebook account send me a friend request....it is under....Kristie Carter Layne!!!!
