Tumbler quilt is now quilted

 Let me catch you up on what I have been doing.  I've been playing around with my longarm.  I found out that a fellow blogger, Dora also has a Nolting longarm so she has given me lots of hints and tips with this machine.  

After quilting the Minnie Mouse panel I loaded on a lap size Tumbler quilt.  This one measures 54x70.

 This is the back.  I used a panto called, Lush Leaves.

 Yesterday we had to take Hunter for his monthly trip to the orthodontist which is a 3 hour and 20 minute round trip.  :(  So while Richard was driving I worked on the binding on the Minnie Mouse panel that I quilted for my niece a few days ago.  

Now I am working on the binding on the Tumbler quilt.  I will probably load a quilt top that belongs to my aunt on the frame sometime today.  It is a very pretty quilt.  I'll post pics of it while I am working on it.

Machine quilting and a very special birthday...

 I loaded a quilt on the frame to be quilted.  I haven't machine quilted since before Christmas.  I was having some machine issues and I just got aggravated and didn't want to mess with it anymore.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and work on the machine.  It is doing okay, but I still have to watch for skips and such.  

I really like this quilt, it measures something like 80x100.  I have about 1/3 of it quilted.  I can't wait to get it done.  Not sure what I will do with it, either put it on my bed or fold it up and put it in the pile. 

The lighting wasn't the best up there this evening but you can see a little bit of the quilting. 

 Here is a photo of the backside of it.  I am using Hobb's 80/20 batting and Madeira thread.  I hope to get it finished within the next couple of days.

 I am still piecing on all of my other projects too.  :)  I made 32 more bow ties the other day.  I have some of my churn dash blocks sewn into rows and so on.  

21 years ago today, I gave birth to my first born son, Andrew.  I remember that day like it was yesterday.  At the time, I was in a bad marriage but that just pushed me closer to my son.  He was my best friend.  I wouldn't change anything about that part of my life as I have Andrew from it.  If you have read my blog for a while you will know that my boys are my life.  I love them with all of my heart.  I am so proud of Andrew and the young man that he has become.  I have had many thoughts over that past few days leading up to his birthday of him being born and growing through different stages of his life.  I gave birth to him 2 weeks before I turned 21 and he was the best birthday gift that I could have gotten.  I love him dearly.  Those eyes and smile still light up my life.  I thank God everyday for letting me be his mother. 

 I guess that is all for tonight.  Richard is working.  Hunter just went to bed as he has school tomorrow and Andrew works in the morning but he went out to dinner and a movie with some friends.

In My Sewing Room...

 I've been really busy the past few days sewing.  I got this 9 patch off the frame and it is now in the pile to have the binding sewn on. 

 I also quilted this lap WVU quilt.  The binding is already on it and the quilt is now gone.  :)

 I've been up in my sewing room for hours today.  :)  I have been piecing on this quilt.  This is an older photo but I don't have the other pieces up on the design wall yet.  I love working with browns. 

 I also took a few minutes to play around with these apple cores.  I have more cut and ready to sew.  A great use of scraps!

 Last I will leave you with a photo of Leo and Mammy!  Leo was trying to sleep and Mammy wanted to play.  Can you tell Leo was annoyed?  LOL!  These two dogs crack me up!  They love each other so much.

How I spent my day....

I have spent the past 2 hours folding and stacking 35 quilts in this unfinished closet. I still have over twice that many to go but I think that is all for today as my back is starting to ache. Lot's of memories as I unfolded and refolded each of these quilts. 

Maybe I will get the rest of them folded and moved over the weekend.  Giggle....all 35 of these are in Andrew's room.  I'm sure he will be happy that they are moved.  :)

Lots of this and that...

I have several photos to post of various things from the past few days. Just a bunch of this and that stuff. First off I want to thank those who are going to trade some calico fabrics with me. I actually thought that I had more of them in my stash than I did. I did actually cut some of the strips needed for the "Hugs and Kisses" quilt that I plan on making. I wanted to piece a block but I could find my solid white yardage. I'm not even sure if I have anymore of it, so I will probably pick it up this coming week at the quilt shop. I have to drop off some quilts so I will get it then.

Here are a couple of photos of my "clean" sewing room (sweat shop). I worked on it a little at a time during the night while I could not sleep. After a few nights it looked pretty good. I took the photos the other morning before I started quilting and making a mess in there again. :)

Here is my bookcase all clean and neat...well...sorta... I still have to do something with that stack of junk in the floor on the right side of it. Here is the rest of the room. I have been thinking about putting up a design wall but since this is like an open loft area I don't want everything seen from downstairs. I used some scrap pieces of batting and pinned them to the wall and put up a few of my Log Cabin blocks on it. See it over by the bookcase. So as of right now this is what I am thinking.....I will move the bookcase over on the other wall where I have the old ironing board sitting since that is what you see as you get to the top of the stairs and make a 8ft x 8ft design wall where the bookcase is now. You can not see that part from downstairs. Then of course I will move some things off of the bookcase so it will look a little neater than it does now. Do you think that sounds like a good idea? When I do the design wall I plan on using 2 4x8ft pieces of insulation board to give me a 8ft square board and cover it will warm & natural batting.


Speaking of design walls... this is what I have on my little temporary one right now. My Farmer's Wife blocks.
I have a total of ten of them done. Most of them are simple blocks and go together rather quickly. Right now the blocks that I am making I am using my scrap bin of Civil War fabrics. I do have a few fabrics in there that are not Civil War but they do blend in fairly well. I want to use up some scraps before I cut into my fat quarters or yardage. Here is a quick glimpse of a customer quilt that I did the other day. I kept thinking as I was quilting it that I sure would like to have that red to use in my Hugs & Kisses quilt. LOL! I do have several other customer quilts to show you but I will probably wait and do them all in one post. As I was cleaning I organized a few more scraps. Actually I see that I need to take some of those red prints out of there and put them with my red & white quilt....as soon as I find it. LOL! I still have a bunch to go through.
Oh and wait until Andrew comes home tomorrow and sees what I piled in his room. Last week when Richard was painting I moved this pile of quilts out of my sewing room and into Andrew's room which is right beside it. If you look close in one of the above photos you can barely see the pile through Andrew's doorway. I will move them in a few days and try to find something to do with them. Look at what I got in the mail today. I just love anything Judy Martin and this is her latest book. It has some very pretty patterns in it. Most of them look like they would take a while to make so it will go on the shelf for now. I have too many customer quilts to finish up and other things for myself. Now on to some odds and ends shots. Today as I was doing dishes I looked out my kitchen window and just loved the sight of this redbud. I can't wait for everything to turn green! It sure made the dishes a little easier to do. I changed the sheets on the bed today and also removed the other quilt that I had on there, it was a little heavy and it has been really warm here the past several days. I dug this one out of the pile to use. I made it several years ago and it is lightweight. I don't even remember the name of the pattern that I used. It reminded me of the nice spring weather that we have been having. I'll change it to something else soon. I will probably change them around until I get my Courthouse Steps top quilted and put on the bed. And last but not least, Hunter has a friend staying over tonight. They have been playing the PS3 and eating LOTS of pizza! Not sure if you can see it but if you look real close you can see what my little COUNTRY BOY has in his mouth!!! HAY! Yep, he walks around with a piece of hay in his mouth most of the time when he is home. He just loves farm life and I am so proud that he does. I know this was a rather long post but I had several things to catch up on. Stay tuned for more quilty stuff in the next few days and lots of customer quilts.

Here are the 21 that left!

Well, during the Christmas holiday I sold and gave away a total of 21 quilts!! 7 were gifts and the other 14 where sold. I just thank God that I had the quilts to sell, it sure helped out during Christmas.

I could not find photos of all of them. Some had been done for a year or so but others had to be pieced or quilted. So here we go...

This was sold to a co-worker of my sisters, this lady bought 3 quilts.
Sorry this one came out so small, not sure what happened there. Anyway this one was bought for their boss's wife.

My sister bought this one for her boyfriend's parents.
This one she wanted made for a co-worker. They exchanged names and Jennifer is a big University of Kentucky fan.
This is a Coat Of Many Colors that my SIL had made for her babysitter.

My SIL really liked the above quilt that she bought as a gift so my brother called and asked me to make another one for her. I think it was a gift from their small kids to their mommy! So here is hers.My SIL also bought a few other quilts. This one was for her co-worker that they exchanged names.

This one was a gift for her special aunt.
This one they all went together and bought for their boss's birthday!

This one is not the actual quilt sold but the other one was just a larger version of it. This little topper was made from leftover blocks. The large quilt was bought by one of the drug representatives that come to their doctor's office.
This was a gift for my Great Nephew, Braxton.
This one was made for my nephew, Gabe.
This isn't quilted in this photo but I had added borders to this panel and it was for my other nephew, Zeph.This one was a gift for my 8 yr old niece, Madison. It was made with fabrics from her Great Grandmother that had passed away a few years ago.
Of course this big pink monster was a gift for my sister!
This was mom's! I got it quilted late on Christmas Eve but I didn't get the binding done. So I bought it back home and I will have to work on that. It measures something like 96x122! I don't have a clue what I was thinking when I made that.
This was a gift for my MIL.

And there was a Bear Paw quilt that was sold to one of her co-workers but I can't find the photo of it. :( Anyway, it was a little hard letting that many go but honestly what do I need with that many quilts. I still have somewhere around 125+

Finally got it done...

I'll pay for it tonight and tomorrow but I finally got this big thing quilted. My right hip and thigh is throbbing right now. I've been quilting on this thing about all day, too much time on my feet. I knew better but I really wanted to get this thing done. It measures 96x106 so it is really big and heavy since it is flannel, but it will sure feel good to snuggle under it after I get the binding on. I probably will not work on that for a while. I have too much other stuff to do first.
I really need to sit down and plan out my time for December. I have so much to do and there are not enough days in the month to get it all done. I have several Christmas gifts to make and part of them are quilts that are being bought from me for others and some that are gifts that I am giving. Also I have doctor appointments and so does mom. And I will also be helping do things for mom. I feel like I am in a panic trying to get it all done.

Speaking of mom.....she seems to be doing a little better now. The pain is not as bad as it was, she seems to be tolerating it a little better now. But the bad thing is...she is starting to feel like getting off the couch a little now and wants to try to do everything but she can't. She is starting to get nervous because of it. So I will also be spending the next several weeks trying to occupy her! :) I told her that we would go driving or something to get her out of the house or maybe finish her Christmas shopping if she feels like it.

I guess that I am done sewing for today. There is so much that I need to get done but just done feel like it after quilting that big thing. I think I will go take me a good hot bath and soak in the tub for a while. That will probably feel good on my leg anyway.
