Hi guys!!!! Sorry it's been so long between posts so hopefully I still have some readers. Wow!!! What a busy Christmas season! I did get all of my customer quilts finished on December 23rd...nothing like getting down to the wire. LOL! I didn't post because some I could post pics of before Christmas and some I could not so I just got overwhelmed and quilted but did not post.
Now that the rush is over, I took a week off after Christmas to clean and organize my studio. It was horrible! While doing that I found some blocks that I wanted to play with and that ended in a finished quilt top! Man did it feel great getting to do some sewing for ME!
I absolutely love working with scraps! I was gifted some new-to-me scraps and it renewed my interest in working on this quilt. Making scrap quilts is my favorite thing to do but sometimes it gets old when it seems like you are working with the same old scraps. I can't tell you how excited that I was for new scraps.
Each piece was cut to 2"x3-1/2" and sewn into this top. It measures 94x108 and has nearly 2000 bricks in it.
I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Now I can't wait to quilt it but I need to see if I have a backing for it first. :)
I also stitched up these strips of Novelty scraps for a kid quilt. I actually made two sets of strips one that is more girly and one that is more boyish. I need to see what I have that would work for sashings and borders. Not sure what I will use these for yet...gifts or donations...
One of my Christmas gifts was these awesome lights to go over my longarm. I had some up there but they did not put out much light. I love these!!!!
I think I mentioned before that my mom was supposed to have surgery on her shoulder but she hasn't had it done yet. She to have some pre-surgery testing and then the surgeon refused to do the surgery right now because her blood pressure and blood sugar is staying too high. Hopefully we can get that under control and she can get something done. On top of that, she is sick right now with a touch of pneumonia. :( Richard checked her lungs yesterday and said that he could still hear a little bit of wheezing in the one lung.
Hunter had is oral surgery Dec 27th. He did really well and has had very little pain from it. He is 15 but still had a baby tooth that had not came out. The permanent tooth was turned sideways up in the roof of his mouth...nowhere near where it needs to be. So they had to pull the baby tooth then go through the thin eggshell bone in the roof of his mouth to get to the permanent tooth. They then had to attach a bracket and hook a chain to the tooth and that chain will be attached to his braces to get it pulled into place. They said this is not an unusual procedure and that they do it often. He goes Thursday to his orthodontist to have the chain and stuff hooked up.
Hunter was supposed to get back to school today but they canceled it due to the cold temps. He is excited to be home again. :)
I guess that is all for now...I promise I will be posting more often now that my Christmas rush is over.
Chantal's baby shower was Saturday and it when very well! She was tired but very happy and excited with all of the friends and gifts. Here is the cake that was made by Chantal's grade school teacher for her shower.
I finished up my sewing at around midnight Friday night! LOL! Nothing like waiting until the last minute to finish things. Here are the gifts that I made for baby Addison.
First up...the puff/bubble quilt...
I made 25 hair bows! I bought this hair bow holder at Hobby Lobby 50% off and it cost me $8. It worked out well to clip the hair bows on.

It was a great day! We had lots of fun with friends and family. She got a ton of wonderful gifts! She has 7 more weeks to go!!!! In the end, Chantal, mom and I were all exhausted! LOL! Now that I have all of this baby stuff finished up I can get back to working on something that is NOT PINK! LOL! I would like to finish assembling my bow tie top but, today I will try to finish painting the nursery! :)
The top is pieced and the borders are on!!! Now it goes in the pile to be quilted.
All from tiny pin dots and it measures 48/55.
I have the binding cut I will prep it soon. Glad to have this one completed. This makes 3 baby quilt tops ready for quilting.
Now on to work on another baby quilt! This one will be a chevron quilt in larger polka dots. At this point I don't know how big it will be. I am using a leftover piece of white so I will piece blocks until I run out of the white.
I'm sure I could easily piece this one in a day and I hope to work on it today. Hubby is on call today and if they are going to call they will be calling within the next 2 hours. If he works I should be able to get this finished, if he is home...maybe not! LOL! Anyone else like that? For some reason I find it hard to get a lot of sewing done when hubby is home. I don't get a lot of cleaning done either.
I also finished up a few more hexies. I'm slowly adding to the pile. I am close to the point that I need to dig through my scrap basket and prep a bunch more hexies for piecing.
Andrew called me today! He will be home on the 19th! I am counting down the days. He sent me this photo today that he took while working his shift on the barges. Shew....notice the ice? I can't wait until he gets home.
***UPDATE: Richard was on call and just got the call that the census is up so off to work he goes! That means that I will be sewing today!!!!!!
Time to go and get my day started!

I finished up all 30 blocks needed for my Colorful Scraps baby quilt. Right now I have them all up on my design wall.
I hung up a couple of the border strips just to see how it was going to look.
So far I am very pleased with how it is turning out.
It is very colorful so I was hoping that by using the white background that it would really pop.
Now I need to sew all of the blocks together and add the border. I am doing a 5x6 setting and adding a single border.

After I get the top completed, this larger polka dot is up next! :) I have a very simple quilt planned with this fabric that I should easily have cut and pieced in a day.

Yesterday I did something that I have not done in a long time....I went fabric shopping! LOL! I have pretty much been working out of my stash since 2009 but with my sister having a baby girl in a few months I needed to pick up a few things. I don't have any of this in my stash.
I picked up some pink minky to match this quilt. Now it just needs to be quilted and the binding done. I have leftover fabric from the top for the binding.
I'm sure that you can tell that my sister loves pink! I picked this up for the border of my Colorful Scraps quilt that I am in the process of piecing. A hot pink mini dot.
This larger hot pink dot will be a small chevron quilt. I already had the white so I didn't buy it. When I got home I realized that they had cut me more than I asked for, 1.5 yards extra to be exact. I checked my receipt and called back to Hobby Lobby and they thanked me for calling and told me to just keep it after I offered to pay for it over the phone.
I mentioned in a previous post that my sister also wanted a puff/biscuit quilt. These are the fabrics that I picked out for that. She is doing the nursery in owls so I thought this would be nice.
I started cutting out some squares from the fabric and put them up on the wall. It's all very busy to me but she likes this stuff.
I could not sleep last night so I got back up and cut the rest of the blocks. I still need to cut the backing squares which I will probably do today so that I can get started.
I have also been working on these. These are my break from all of the bright funky fabrics. LOL! If you have read my blog for a while you will know that I don't tend to work with modern/bright fabrics. :)
I guess that is all for now. It is another cold day here in KY. Hunter only had 2 days of school this week and that was his first week back after Christmas Break.

As most of you know my sister, Chantal is having a baby in April. She calls me yesterday and asks if I can make a puff/biscuit quilt. I know these were really a big thing back in the 70's maybe a little in the 80's but I wasn't quilting then as I was born in the 70's. :) So I grabbed some scrap fabric that I could practice with. I was just mostly trying to figure out how much stuffing she wanted in them.
She wants them pretty full with fluff as she plans on using it as a playmat on the floor. She has wood flooring so she wanted something with some padding.
These are only practice pieces so now I just need to find out what colors that she wants me to use in the actual quilt/playmat. Meanwhile, I will get back to working on the polka dot quilt. I haven't touched it since this photo the other day.
It's 6:15am so I've got to get my day started!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I have been thinking about my new word or motto for this year and I found it! "Too Blessed to be stressed" I have so much to be thankful for to stay stressed out like I always am. The Lord has Blessed me in so many ways. I need to realize that I can't control every little thing in my life and life is too short to stress so much over the small things.
So here is what is currently going on in my sewing world right now. I worked on this stuff a little yesterday. First off, I cut up some tiny polka dots for a new baby quilt.
As I was working on my mystery quilt, I would run one or two of these paper through the machine, just to get them started. I printed out 30 of these.
This is my own design and I made a purple one a while back. I gave it as a gift to Crystal, my sister's best friend. Here is a pic of it.
For some reason I didn't get a photo of the mystery work that I was working on. I will post that next time. I was hoping to be close to caught up before she releases the next step tomorrow but that isn't going to happen.
My sewing and cutting tables are just one big horrible mess. Things get piled up really fast. This started when I was doing my Christmas sewing and gift wrapping in the same area. My leader/ender project is buried somewhere under it all so I just ran some small 4 patches through the machine. I ended up with 20 more of these that makes a total of 159 of them. I'm not even sure what these are going to go into but I will find something.
I also found one of these and ran it through the machine. :) This windmill block makes me 70 of them.
