Working on my Stacked Coins

This morning Richard, Andrew and Hunter all got up at 5am to go hunting. Here are a couple of photos of Hunter. I told him that he looked like a turtle in these photos! Of course, it being so early Andrew was too hateful to let me take photos of him.
After they all left, I went back to bed for a bit. Got up.....fixed my breakfast, finished reading my book, did some laundry, picked up the house a little, and finished sewing my strips together for my Stacked Coins quilt.
I had mentioned in an earlier post that I had bought these fabric samples at the thrift store. I cut them in the correct sizes and sewed them together into strips. Now all I need to do is pick up the white fabric for the sashing strips and border. It will probably be around the end of next week before I pick that up, because I have to drive so far to get it. As you can see in the photo, I still need to press the strips but I will probably wait and do that when I get ready to assemble the top. I'm not in a big hurry on this quilt, I will be keeping it for myself so there is no rush.

Anyway, back to the boys.....Richard and Hunter came back early this morning. Hunter was cold so Richard brought him back home and left back out hunting himself and has not returned yet. Andrew called it an early day too, he came back home, changed and left for a Beagle Run Trial. He probably will not be back until very late. So right now it is just me and Hunter and I think he is ready for a nap. He is not used to getting up at 5am, but at least they have had a great family day spending time together.

My plans for the day is to start another book. I just love reading Historical Romance Novels, but I take it by spells. I may not read a book for a month or so and then at times, I just can't read enough. I will read a book a day when the mood hits. Anyway, I have another book that I plan on starting, and plan on working on some binding on a crib quilt and hopefully settle in for the evening and do some handquilting. Oh, I almost forgot....I will be going out to my mom's tonight. Today is my sister's 25th birthday and mom is having her cake and ice cream. They are out shopping right now. I plan on giving her the pink and brown quilt that I showed in a previous post!

What Is On Your Bed?

What's on your bed?? I have seen this question on blogs before, but I was thinking about that this morning while I was making my bed.

I am cold natured so I usually have several quilts on the bed. I have a total of 3 quilts on my bed right now. The first quilt is called "Far West" I made this quilt several years ago and got the pattern out of a magazine. Love the pattern, very easy and quick to put together.
On top of the "Far West" quilt, I have this quilt and it is called "Pieced Tulips" Made this one several years ago too. This pattern also came from a magazine. Loved making this one!
Now on top of these two quilts I have this quilt and it is called "Sparkling Stars" I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quilt! It was so easy to make and lots of fun too! A very good use of scraps! This pattern also came from a magazine!
So that is it! That is what is on my bed!!!! As you can see, I just love scrap quilts! Just curious on what is on YOUR BED!!!!
Have a wonderful day!

Gifts for my sister!

Not a lot of sewing going on here the past couple of days. I have been reading a couple of books and working outside, trying to get everything ready for Winter! You never run out of stuff to do on a farm! But I do love the farm life!

This Saturday is my sister, Chantal's 25th birthday! She is such a sweet girl and we are VERY close. So on her birthday I plan on giving her this quilt! She loves pink and brown and she loved this one when I quilted it, so I have decided it should belong to her.

Chantal's isn't married and doesn't have any children but she does have a poodle that she treats like a child! :) She keeps that dog dressed 24/7 and I swear sometimes I think that dog thinks it is human! :) So I recently quilted a crib size quilt made from leftovers of the big quilt. I practiced a quilting design on it and planned on donating it. But then I thought I would give her both of the quilts....the big one for her and the crib quilt for her dog, Zoey! I think she will get a big kick out of that! As you can see here in the photo they do coordinate nicely.
Probably will not get to sew tonight. Supper is in the crockpot and we are having Pork Chops and Gravy, corn, peas, and cornbread! We need to stack up some more firewood and then I plan on finishing my book up tonight!
Have a wonderful day!
