Singer 237

This has NOT been a good day.  Ever have one of those days that you just wish that you had stayed in bed?  Well, this is one of those.  More on that later in the post.  First I want to show you my new baby...

Yesterday I bought 2 sewing machines!  I was only able to bring one of them home because I didn't have room to haul the other one.  I'll pick it up sometime this coming week.  I paid for it and they will hold it until I get back to town.  So here is the first one...

A Singer Fashion Mate 237, here she is AFTER I got her cleaned up.
After some deep cleaning, oiling and adjusting she sews wonderfully.  She was born somewhere between 1968-1972 and has all metal gears.  I love that.

When I brought her home yesterday she was soooooo "funky"  LOL!  She was really gunky and dirty.  This is when I was getting ready to start cleaning her up.
A closeup...
 Another closeup...
And after...  She cleaned up really nice and sews great!
I got a really good deal on both machines!  Let's just say that Hunter and I could have eaten at McDonald's twice for what a paid for both of these machines!  BTW...the other one is a Singer too.

Now on to my bad day!  :(  Here we sit in another snow storm and what happens???  My water goes out!  At first we think it is just frozen, but nope, it's not.  The well pump has stopped working.  Living out in the country we don't have city water but we have a drilled water well and the pump is dead.  Yep!  $400+ for another one.  So here we sit with no water and with the weather so bad we can't even get out to get another one!!!  :(

I was just so disgusted this morning that I just sat down and cried, but I guess it could always be worse, right?  Maybe I should have saved my $10 that I paid for the machine and put it towards a new well pump.  LOL!  Oh well life goes on...

I would have bought the sewing machines too! Do you have a cabinet for it, or does it need one?

I paid $5 for a Singer 237 and it is a fantastic machine. I hope you have many hours of quilting togehter. Sorry about the pump. Do you have an old hand pump so that you can at least carry water?

Oh, Kristie, I would have sat and cried too!
I hope your Fashion Mate turns out to be one of the good ones! Can't wait to see the other one too!

Life goes on sweetie, and all will work out. Try to relax, Praise God for all your blessings, and one day soon, you can look back and laugh. Don't beat yourself up about the machines. Life is always going to bring trials, but I think you know that....sending hugs and hopes for a solution quickly.

Ours always used to go out in the dead of winter and hubby would almost freeze trying to get it going. It was ab above ground pump and the little dohickey that holds a little water and makes it work would freeze and burst. The last time it happened, we called the plumbers and had a in-well pump put in and the tank is now inside the basement. We haven't had any trouble with it since!

I have just been to Facebook and requested friendship - loved all the pics and stories. It has been a long time our friendship, Kristie - I hope we can keep it strong.
Love and hugs - Lurline.

That has happened to us before, you forget how much you appreciate something so simple until it's gone.
Maybe it will be something simple instead of a whole new pump. Your machine is a great find !

I went through a thrift store and two antique malls yesterday and I only found an old Kenmore in a cabinet (I don't have room for another cabinet). Looks like you find machines every time you look! : )
So sorry about the well pump. We live on a well with low water pressure, too, and I know how maddening this can be.

Hi Kristie, Freezing there, summertime here. Last Sunday we were having horrible winds from a scary cyclone (I had trees come down), but this Sunday is a gorgeous summer day. Check out my cool spider pic on my blog if you have time :) debbie

UGH! Nevermind Kristie! Our well pump went out right before Christmas (Dec.19) a couple of years ago...your $10 wouldnt make a dent in it:( Guess what we got for Christmas, and New Years and birthday and Valentines etc. Bless your heart! Hope you get it up and going soon!
