Oh, What a day this has been!!!

I'm so tired and soooooo stressed out! This has been such a long hard day! First I will start by telling you about Hunter's surgery. We arrived at the hospital around 6am, he was taken back and prepped for surgery. The actual surgery only lasted about 30minutes. I held it together until they took him back to the operating room, I had to turn my head to cry so that I wouldn't upset him. The surgeon came out at 8:30, said all went fine and he was in recovery. So he sent us back to be with him and said he would be ready to leave in less than an hour. Then the surgeon was called out for emergency surgery at another hospital. As soon as Hunter woke up he started kicking and screaming! They had to line the bed around the bedrails with pillows to keep him from hurting himself! They were giving him Morphine and it was just like he had nothing for pain! I am the same way with Morphine! They had to wait for some of it to leave his system before they could give him a stronger pain medication. That was so hard to sit there and watch him scream, knowing that I could do nothing to help him.

Then he started vomiting constantly! Even with an ice chip he would vomit as soon as it hit his stomach. Then he wouldn't wake up because of the other pain medication and when he did he was complaining of his chest hurting. The nurse called for the recovery doctor that was on call and he didn' t have a clue! I think he was actually getting nervous about Hunter having so much pain. At one point he looked and me and Richard and said "I don't know, maybe if he gets worse you could bring him back tonight or call....well, I don't know, what do you all think?" I was sooooo mad. In the end Hunter was in recovery from 8:30am to 12:30pm! It is now 7pm and he is still vomiting and has not been able to hold anything down, not even his pain medication! I have a feeling this will be a long night for him. I'm afraid that he will get dyhdrated. He has not had anything in his system since 10pm last night!

Now for more bad news, I will back up several hours. We got up this morning at 3:45am to make the trip to the hospital and since we didn't know how long we would be gone, we decided to go ahead and feed the horses. Well, you may know where this story is going.....my chocolate horse did not make it! Richard went out at 4am and he was down and passed away a few minutes later! I was so upset and mad! It was such a sad thing to happen, he had once been such a beautiful horse! Richard called one of his friends that early to see if he could come and bury him while we were gone to the hospital. We really hated to put that on someone else but Hunter really couldn't miss this appointment! So when we arrived back home all was taken care of and he now rests down beside Eb's Private Treaty (another one of my horsey babies that we lost at the age of 24)

I am so ready for this day to end!

I pray that Hunter feels better soon. Hopefully, when the anesthetic and morphine wear off, he will be able to eat and drink again and feel better soon.

I am so sorry for your horse passing away. How sad. Know that he is not suffering anymore.

You poor dear what a terrible day all of you have had. Hopefully Hunter will start to feel better soon once he gets all the anesthetic out of his system. Kids bounce back so much quicker than adults. A good nights sleep and all the love you're giving him and he'll be fine. I'm so sorry about your horse. What a terrible thing to happen.

You've been through so much today. Hopefully Hunter is feeling better tomorrow and springs back quickly. Sorry to hear about your horse. How sad that someone mistreated it that bad.

Oh you poor poor thing, I have had my kids there and it is just horrific, it would be so much more preferable if it were us-single people don't quite get that notion!!
I hate seeing my kids in pain. Odd that they let you take him home without keeping something down, they don't do that here....it is stay in the ward until something stays in! You are in my thoughts, tracey

Kristie,
I am so sorry you are having such a rough time lately. I have said a prayer for a quick recovery for Hunter. Poor little guy! I am also sorry about the loss of your horse. It is shameful that someone would neglect him to that extent! I hope today is better for you.

OHHHHHHHH I'm so sorry to hear about the horrible treatment that Hunter received. You'd think they'd be more on top of that with a kid. =( HOw much recovery time do they think?

I'm sorry about your horsie too. It's too bad that guy doesn't get charges brought against him for neglect.

I'm sorry to hear of the trouble with your son's surgery. As a mom it breaks your heart to see your child in pain or struggling. To lose your horse on top of all of this is terrible. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope happier times are headed your way!
