Summer Pond

Well, I didn't get as much done this weekend as I had hoped! :( But I did start another project! I know, I know, I didn't need to, but actually I have been planning on doing this one for a long time. I already had the fabrics for it and even had one of the blocks cut out. This is Summer Pond, which is a BOM so I don't have to be in a rush to finish it. I have these three blocks cut out, ironed down, and only one of them is appliqued! I have the big red fish done but I will work on the others. I also have 2 more of the blocks cut out with the 2 fish on them, I think the quilt shows 3 of those blocks used.

Had a visit from my MIL and hubby's grandmother a little while ago. His mother lives in Ohio and comes down a couple times a year. The boys were glad to see them, but we visit with his grandmother every week, so they get to see her alot. She spoils them too death.

I am still sick but starting to feel a little better, I guess. I feel bad enough that I don't want to do anything but good enough that I am restless, if that makes any sense. I have a ton of quilty things that I want to do but just not the energy to do them. I would like to finish sewing my Love letter quilt together, work on my Nearly Insane, my Civil War Diary quilt, finish these applique blocks, pin another quilt for hand quilting even though I don't have the others done, I could go on and on but I won't bore you with it all. Anyone else feel like that from time to time? Right now, I have a big fire going in the fireplace and it is so warm and cozy in here, my house is clean, (because I knew I was having company), so if only I had the energy to sew....

LOL!!! I think Sandy needed to have us see how many projects we could start insted of finish. I haven't wanted to work on the UFO's but I have started some. Haven't had time to work on mine for quilting for others but enjoying it and that is what it is all about. I keep thinking I will hurry and get these quilted and be caught up but here comes more quilts. LOL

Sometimes you just have to start a new project. I think this is going to be adorable and I can't wait to see it finished.

With the weather starting to turn cold Summer Pond would be a great one to work and day dream about the warm months ahead.

Glad you are on the mend.

That is so cute! I love it. I hadn't seen her site, I liked the Baltimore Blues you were working on. I haven't done any sewing all summer. I am hoping to have time this winter.

Kristie, thanks for the nice comments. I have 2 machines one is a singer and the other a bernina. They both have a small throat space and they sew equally as good. About the only FMQ I can do at this point is stipple, meander and I do crosshatch the same way because I don't have a walking foot and when I try to do it with the regular straight stitch it became askew and was very hard to square up. Actually it was a disaster. But I found if I drop my feed dogs and use my darning foot it doesn't stretch the bias. So now I do free motion crosshatching, LOL. My grandaughter is such a champ. She can only wear her braces for short periods of time because it causes bruising, but that's okay because she only needs them for certain things, She can stand with them on and she needs a walker at this point but we are pleased with her progress. Most of the time she is at home and prefers crawling or using her wheel chair. She'll be having her surgery at the end of the school year because of the time it will take her to recover. The surgery is to keep her spine from fusing to her tail bone. It really is a must because with out it she will lose the use of her legs all together. I got her a sewing machine for Christmas,I know she will love it.

You can always find something new to do that looks to be much more fun to do.

what a great pattern for a bom! I can't wait to see all your blocks! I love your fabric choices.

Sometimes you need to just take a break from your hobby....sitting by the fire with a good book is always a nice thing too :)

Love the summer blocks! I feel exactly the way you do sometimes.... so I grab a book and curl up and read! The projects will be there when you feel like working on them.

This is going to be one very cute quilt. Love the fish!

You'll get your quilting mojo back when you feel better.

Those fires do have a way of warming you to the bone to make you feel better, don't they.
I have some embroidered frogs squares I plan on making cushions for Christmas presents. I hate to admit it, but I embroidered those squares a long long time ago for a quilt and never did make it.
It is cute little frogs in overalls.
I can't wait to see your pond quilt.
