Life On The Layne Farm

No post for a few days and not alot of sewing going on. I really needed a break for a couple of days. I would love to finish up my Love Letter quilt soon and move on to some others. I on a NO BUYING spree for fabric and anything quilt related for a while. I do have alot of fabrics in my stash so I will be trying to use it up.

Monday was our quilt guild meeting. It was a nice meeting and I must say that they are a truly wonderful bunch of ladies! I had nice long phone conversations with Brenda and Sandy, the guild president a few days before the meeting. I just wish that you all could meet them in person, they are just really super nice ladies. Here is a baby quilt that was made by a lady in the guild named Helen. See, my sister and sister-in-law both work for a peditrician in town and we donate quilts to be given out to the children in need. They are given out on a as needed basis. So each and every quilt is greatly appreciated.

Life in general has been a little rough here lately. I am so thankful that I have such a loving husband and wonderful children. So here is the story...I had been really down for a couple of weeks and hubby came home for working in timber on Monday and this is what he brought me...

He hand picked me a wild rose! This little rose meant more to me than if he had went out and spent hunderds of dollars on a gift. I am truly blessed to have such a great husband.

Today Richard cut some trees to haul off to the log yard. Wouldn't you know of all times our tractor would break down! The tractor has forks on the front so it would have been perfect to load the logs on the trailer. We don't have a big log truck so we loaded them on the hay trailer. And the trailer is not strong enough to hold over 4 logs or so at a time, they are oak and VERY heavy. Here are some photos of our evening. It took Richard, Andrew and I, all to load the logs.

Of course, while we were loading the logs Hunter was with us but playing with his trucks...or so I thought. He was being really super quiet and that is not like Hunter, I walked over to see what he was doing....he was playing with a baby lizard!! Boys!!!

Tomorrow, we will take the load of logs off to sell and then come home and load another load!

You must be exhausted after all that hard work today! I think that the one wild rose was a perfect gift from Richard. Sounds like a great from all that you've said about him.

It is not the price of the gift but it coming from the heart is what makes it so special...that was so sweet of Richard.

Those are some mighty big logs...good luck on selling them at high dollar.

Gifts from the heart are always the BEST kind. Love is the greatest gift of all, and if you have love, you have all the riches you need.

You all have been working hard. Take it easy, work carefully, and stay safe.

God bless you.

Chin up, my Darling ... there are better times ahead! We really don't need this character building, do we? Enjoy your wild rose and stitching and be happy that you make others in Blogland happy, too!
Hugs - Lurline.

One rose can say so much.
Isn't it wonderful the way we can be there for each other even though we're miles away.
Thoughts from down under.

boys who play with lizards grow up to be men who give their wives roses :)

How great to get such a pretty wild rose! You've been busy - those logs look huge! Love the lizzard (although you wouldn't catch me playing with it - maybe Jessie would in my place...). Take care!

I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy seeing each one of the blocks for your quilts. I really admire how you are working on several goals, and making progress!

When little boys get Hunter's age, I no longer clean out their pockets before I do laundry.....found a dead frog in one of my son's pockets at that age. He said it wasn't dead when he put it in there! (now when you do laundry, you will think of me before you stick your hand in there! LOL).

Hubby is a keeper! Funny how the little gifts mean so much more than the big ones even if they are given with the same love.

Awww.. that is so sweet he picked you a rose! It's the little things that really show they care. Hope you are feeling better soon. Curl up on the couch with a quilt and read a good book. That always works for me.
Hugs to you

The rose is beautiful and I also would take that over store bought "pretties".
I also know about logging since my husband and I have been doing some logging and sawmilling here on the farm lately.
When my 2 boys were small, I was never surprised to find thing like lizards and frogs around. Treasure these times, they go way too fast.
Have a great weekend.

Glad your feeling better :0) Things have been rough here as well but I won't go into detail. What a thoughtful gift! Such a great guy. Keep up the great work posting, wish I could get back to it more. Maybe soon:)
