Thinking about 2011

It is now 12:53am and I can not sleep! My right hip is killing me, I think I have just overdone it trying to get all of this sewing and machine quilting done before Christmas. I've known for the past few days that I needed to stop and take a break for a day or two but I just didn't. Now I am paying for it. This has been a long day. I've spent the day doing some sewing but not a whole lot and I have tried not to sit or stand for very long at a time. I have also tried to do some of my physical therapy exercises the try and relieve some of the pain and aching. But anyway, I'm sure I will live over it, I'm just whining! :)

The time that I spent sewing today was not at all what I should have been sewing on. As I have said in my previous posts, I have alot of quilting to get done before Christmas but today, I just needed a break from all of that and did some sewing on Bonnie's Mystery quilt. I know in a few days I will be wishing that I had spent this time working on these Christmas quilts........but oh well!!!

Last night I did 5 of the string blocks and today I did 15 more. I need a total of 60 so 40 more to go. Here I'm doing these and I haven't even done the other steps yet! :( As soon as Christmas is over I will be working on this Mystery quilt!

Speaking of quilting...as I was working on these blocks today I was thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in 2011. Honestly, with the year that I've had in 2010, I'm thinking that 2011 will be a CAREFREE YEAR OF QUILTING! I think that is what I will call it.

2010 has been a long rough year for me with my fall. That took alot of time out of my quilting, I was down for several months with the pain and being depressed and really didn't accomplish much for the year. Actually, I've done more in the past couple of months than I have done all year.

So since 2011 will be my CAREFREE YEAR OF QUILTING, I don't really care if things get done or not, I just want to enjoy quilting for the new year! I will make a list of things that I want to get done but I'm not going to stress over it if they don't get done!!! I don't even care if I don't touch the first UFO!!!! If I want to work on it I will and if I don't I won't!!!! :) So my list is not so much a "to-do list" but a "reminder list" of things that I would like to WORK on and get done sometime within the next decade! :) I'll probably add my list to my sidebar so that I can see it, and I may add to it during the year or take things off of it from time to time. Actually, I added it to my "pages" at the top, if you would like to take a look!!!

I'm with you, Kristie! No more quilting guilt! Life is too short to worry about finishing quilts that really don't interest us. I am planning on packing mine up into kits and either giving them away or selling them. The fabric will get used and I will start getting stuff out of my studio!!

You are SO right! I think that alot of times all of our "have to" projects take the fun out of quilting. New projects make me fall in love with quilting again! Don't get me wrong..I love to finish a project...but I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't!

I think you hit the nail on the head! Good for you for making that decision.

I like how you made the tabs on the top. Another great idea. I am in awe of all your flimsies. LOL

I totally agree with you! A Carefree year will be great! I do want to concentrate on my UFO's and kits though. It would be great to get some things cleaned up and out of my stash room! lol

I'm a couple of years ahead of you on the carefree. My 'give a damn' got busted when I had meningitis and I just haven't had time to get it fixed.

my goal is to have quilts, tops, kits and scraps so that any and all can say they finally got a piece of me!
