Scrappy Trips Around The World

Here I am again at Mom and Chantal's. I'm sure my sister is tired of me running her off of the computer! :) Still haven't had a chance to shop for a computer, we just have so many things going on for the next few weeks! Tomorrow we have my stepdaughter's 8th grade graduation at noon and then Richard has an eye doctor appointment. He has finally admitted that his eyes are not what they used to be. Next week I have several days of awards days at school, Hunter and Andrew both. But anyway, I will be back up and going soon on a daily basis.

I forgot to show these photos of some quilt books that I bought a few weeks ago. Mom and I went up to the bookstore and I purchased these three books for $3 each!!! They are new but have been out for a few years, but that is fine with me. They have several more that I will probably pick up next time.

Here is a photo of my Scrappy Trips Around The World from the Quiltville website. I had Chantal to hold it up for me so I could take a photo of it. I still need to add the borders to it. I have them cut and ready to sew on, I also have the binding cut too. The borders and binding are from one of the blue fabrics. I will have that done this weekend. And hopefully, I can work on my Civil War Diary quilt some more.

Hunter had his field trip yesterday to the Eastern Kentucky Science Center. He had a wonderful time. Sorry no photos but there were so many kids running around it was hard to keep up with them. As soon as we arrived back home I hit the couch and napped for a couple of hours. I still can't get adjusted to this thyroid medication. Sometime, I just have to fight to stay awake through the day. I have to go back to the thyroid doctor in June so hopefully, they will adjust it then.

Andrew is finally finished with his heart monitor. Now I am just waiting for them to read all of the results and then go from there. I think he is happy to be rid of that thing. His chest has raw spots on it from those sticky things, which I'm sure will heal up in a few days.

I will try to post again in a day or two. Not sure how much sewing I will get done this weekend.

Lots to talk about!!!

Well, here I sit at my sister's computer again! I figured my computer would be ready today, but I got a call from the computer place telling me that it couldn't be fixed!!! He is not charging me anything since he can't fix it and my hard drive is scrambled so I lost everything! Thank goodness that I have my photos saved on the web! So now I will be shopping for a new computer within the next couple of weeks! I have alot of things going on within the next little bit so it may be a while before I get to go check them out! I had only had my computer for about 1 1/2 yrs! Just long enough for it to be out of warranty! Funny how much sewing I can get done when I stay off the internet! But I have missed you all soooooooo much! Richard said that I am starting to go through withdraw!

Anyway here is what has been going on...

I want to say a big THANK YOU to Gina and Amelia. Gina sent a huge box of Tea for my Mom! Mom has been on this big tea drinking kick lately. She also sent me a wonderful quilt magazine! And Amelia...Thanks so much for the card! So nice to know that I have been missed, you are such a sweetie!!! I had photos of both, but for some reason my camera choked on them so I don't have photos to show of them.

Here is my Booty Swap Mini quilt that I made for Mel. I just got it mailed out this morning. I hope she likes it! It doesn't look square in the photo but it is straight. I even sewed on some beading. They are hard to see but the little dots in the cream are seed beads. It was very fun to make.

And here is the lovely quilt that I recieved in the swap from Jill Tacy! It is truly beautiful!!! Love the colors and she did a wonderful job! The tag that pulls out of the heart is "A Mother's Heart" poem. I love it and it really matches well in my house!

She also made me this set of 6 napkins! They are very nice and also threw in some recipes!! Such nice and talented lady! Thanks a bunch, Jill, I love them!

Here are some Civil War Diary blocks that I have made since I posted last! I now have a total of 41! So now only 80 more to go!!!!!

This is 4 of the Dear Jane blocks that I made, I think these make me a total of 6! Still a long way to go on these!

Also in the mail was a surpise package from Jill, (the other Jill) :) Beautiful Moda charms and a bag of chocolates that I have to say are almost gone already!!! Thanks a bunch! I have a perfect pattern to use the charms in! Very sweet of you!
Here is my pile of Orange Crush blocks! I am completely caught up on this! I had my sister to get on here and check for step 5 and she printed it out for me and brought it out to me. I'm anxious to see how this will look in the end.
This is the fabrics that we are using in Quilt Guild for our Mystery quilt! I have some of it cut out, just waiting for the next step! Can't wait to see it, it will be small, more like a lap size.
And this is my Scrappy Trips Around The World, from the Quiltville website! I have more of it done since this photo was taken. I like it, it is very quick and easy to put together, just 2 1/2 inch strips!!!! There are several more on here website that I would love to make...

Speaking of strips!!!! I now have ALL of my scraps cut up into usable sizes! Can you believe that???? See I told you I have been busy! I have them cut into different sized strips and squares! Everything is so neat and organized, now if I can just keep it up.

I guess that is all for now... I need to go back home and get Hunter in the bed! He has his first kindergarten field trip tomorrow. I will be following the bus to go with him. They are going to a Science Center, then stopping by Paintsville Lake for a nature walk and a picnic lunch! I'm sure he will have a blast but I will be sooooo tired.

Please, don't forget about me, hopefully, I will be up and running again within the next few weeks!!!!!

I guess you've been wondering...

Well, such a long story!!! But my computer died again!!!!! I called the place that worked on it in March and wouldn't you know they are out of business! So I had to take it to another place, he just called today and said it should be ready by Saturday or early Monday! My motherboard went out and he was going to convert all my things over to a new tower but when the motherboard went out it scrambled everything!!! So I have lost all my things that I had stored!

My sister just got her internet up and running this morning so we have both been without! But don't worry I should be back on Monday! I have been sewing alot and I will have lots of photos to show. Oh, and I haven't forgotten about my 300th post giveaway so I will post about that on Monday too!!!

I've missed you all!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary To Me!!!! :)

Happy Anniversary Happy Anniversay to ME!!!!! It is 1am so I can say it is my anniversary! Today Richard and I have been married 7 wonderful years! He is truly the love of my life! Three arguements in 7 years, so I think I will keep him! So now I will bore you with some of our wedding photos! We had an old-time outside wedding and my Mom and my aunt made my dress for me.

In this photo...me, Richard, his brother Claude, my sister Chantal, Andrew, and Breanna.

Well, I guess that is it for now. Richard will be working all day and I have a quilt guild meeting at 9am. We are going out to celebrate next weekend.

A little bit of sewing

Mother's Day Basket I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Mother's Day! I have really enjoyed my day! Last night we visited with Richard's Grandmother. So today, Richard and the boys had promised me a Mother's Day breakfast...but you know how that goes, as a mother I am always the first one up and they were all snoring so loudly, so I fixed breakfast myself. I got some really nice gifts and cards, oh and lots of hugs. We went out to Mom's around 2pm for dinner, my brother and his family were there so we all had a nice time.

I haven't been on the computer alot this weekend because it keeps going off. This is the longest that I have been able to stay on it, usually after about 2 minutes it will go off, so I guess I will be calling the computer repair people tomorrow.

I have done a little bit of sewing. I have been working on Step 4 of the OC. I have about 10 blocks sewn together and 20 more to go. I still need to iron step 2 and 3!!!!

Tomorrow is Quilt Guild and we will be starting a mystery quilt there. We are doing it in two parts. This will be my first quilt that I have made with the guild so I am a little nervous. I don't even know what the fabric will look like. We had the kits made from WV Quilts Store. I'm sure I will have more to tell you on this tomorrow.

Well I did survive the cleaning that mom and I did the other day. I was so tired and I want to thank everyone for listening to me whine!!!!

I think I will spend the evening working on my OC, before I have to pack up my machine and things for Guild. I really need to finish my Mini Swap Quilt, it needs to be mailed out before the end of the month. All I need to do is quilt it and I think I am just going to quilt in the ditch, so that won't take very long since it is only a 20 inch square.

Oh, What a day this has been!!!

First I will start with my latest Civil War Diary block. I made this one late last night. I know it looks like it should be put together differently, but this is how it is in the quilt. Very easy block and didn't take very long.

Now on to my story of the day... I am sooooooo ashamed!!! As most of you all know that I have been sick due to my thyroid and this new medicine that I am on makes me so tired and I want to sleep alot during the day. So needless to say, my house is a total mess. I had been cleaning a little here and there on it but everything just seemed to be piling up on me. So Mom came out the other day and said "How about I come out in a few days and we jump in and clean your house?" So you know my house had to look bad or she would not have said anything. We decided to start on it this morning. I thought I would try to clean some before she got out here. I started with my refrigerator and by the time Mom called I was crying! I can't believe that I let everything get this bad. Honestly, I was ashamed for Mom to see all of that stuff. So she hung up and was here within 5 minutes! First of all, she gave me a big hug and a speech about she knew that I had not had any energy and it was all okay that we would get everything cleaned back up and in order.
Bag Head
Now I am 36 and my Mom is 54. My Mom can work circles around me!!! She doesn't sit down!!! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo tired right now that I hurt every time that I move! I thought about going to take a hot bubble bath but I would probably have to yell for Richard to come and get me out of the bathtub!!! We still have alot more to do, but we cleaned out the refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, all the dishes, microwave and all the small appliances, scrub brushed around the wall edge of my kitchen floor and mopped it. Oh and we cleaned the ceiling and light fixtures and that was just in the kitchen. We still have a ton more in there to do, like cleaning out all the cabinets.

We moved on to the living room. Cleaned the ceiling and ceiling fan, moved the furniture and vacuumed under everything. Cleaned the ceilings in the hallway and bathroom, scrubbed every surface known to mankind in the bathroom and done 3 loads of laundry. After all of that it still looks like a bomb went off! She is coming back out in a few days so that we can finish up!!!

I think the thing that bothers me the most is, she is my Mom, I should be doing this for her!!! I know she has to be tired too, but everytime that I would say something today about being ashamed, she would just look at me and say something like " I love you and you have nothing to be ashamed about"

Anyway on to some better news!!!!! The doctor's office called this morning about some of the tests that I had done over the past week. The nurse said that most of my tests had came back better than they had expected! I'm not sure what they were expecting but I guess the radiation had helped. I have to continue on this thyroid medication and I don't have to go back until the middle of June. I hope when I go back they will adjust this medication.

That's all for tonight, I think I am going to attempt the bubble bath!!!!! If you don't hear from me tomorrow, you know that I didn't make it out of the tub!!!!!

3 More Civil War Blocks!

I finally got a chance to work on my Civil War Diary Quilt last night and a little bit today. I finished 3 blocks! So that makes 29 down and 92 more to go!!! I know I still have a long way to go, but I will get it finished someday!

Here is the block called...Alvin McClure

Draft Threat
Splendid Victory
I paper pieced them all, actually I have paper pieced all 29 of them so far. I seem to be able to work better with the tiny pieces doing paper piecing. Hopefully, tonight I can get at least one more block to make an even 30.

Richard did not work today, he took the day off to get some things done. Actually, I think he was just tired when I tried to get him up at midnight and didn't want to go to work. I guess everyone deserves a day off now and then. He usually works 16-18 hours a day so I know he has to be tired. He worked some on the house today and got up all of the rafters on the backside. I will post a photo of it later.

I have a friend at my quilt guild that has started a blog. Her name is Brenda and if you get a chance check her blog out. She is a very nice lady and makes some very beautiful quilts. She also does machine quilting for others and does a wonderful job. I'm sure she would enjoy you all stopping by.

I'm off to clean up the kitchen and hopefully do a little more sewing.

My Latest Project!

Here is my latest project! I started it last night and finished it up this morning before I took Hunter to the doctor. I made a few of the fabric coiled bowls and then I thought maybe I would try a purse! I had bought the handles (still in the package) a few weeks ago at the junk store for somewhere between .10-.25! After I took this photo I added a flap to hold it together and sewed on some velcro to close it. I threw my stuff in it and carried it to town with me. I got several compliments so that always makes me feel good.

Mom and I ran around town for a while this morning before Hunter's appointment. His appointment went fine. The doctor put him on an antibotic for 2 weeks. He said the stitches would come out after the infection was cleared up. He said to take them out right now and it already infected would only make it worse.

As soon as Andrew got home from school the boys jumped on their new toy and rode it for a while. I'm so glad they like it.

Anyway, I'm off to work on some of my Civil War Diary blocks!!!!!

A Great Day On The Layne Farm!

Hi all! Today has been a fairly nice day. For some reason I have felt better today than I have in several months! Far from perfect but pretty good! After getting the boys off to school this morning, I drove in to town. I had to stop by Richard's Grandmothers to check her cord on her dryer, she needs a different hookup than what she has. Anyway, came back home watered the horses again and cleaned a little bit in the house.

Mom came out for a few minutes, which was very nice. We just sat around and talked. I showed her my book for the Dear Jane quilt and she thought I was crazy!!! Which I knew that already :) Then Richard called on his cell to tell me he found a very good deal on a toy for the boys! I guess he just wanted to get my okay on it, but I'm sure he would have bought it anyway. So here they are playing on there new TOY!

Needless to say, they LOVED IT! It took forever to get them to park it! It is real nice, it has harness seat belts, roll cage, lights, mirrors, and even a horn and lighter (and none of us smoke) They had a blast! I was so glad that they liked it. And even hubby and I took it for a ride. Or should I say I took hubby for a ride!!!!! Anyway, it should be lots of summer fun for the boys!

Oh and here is a photo of the field down the road from the house. I just thougt it looked so pretty with all of the little yellow flowers!

Mom and I will be making the trip in to town in the morning. I have to have more bloodwork done and then I have to take Hunter by the doctor. If you remember he had surgery March 24 down on his private area. Well his stitches still haven't come out. I have called a couple of different doctors several times to see if they will take them out. They all tell me the same thing "Oh, don't worry, it make take a few months but they will come out on their own" Well, I've just never heard of them staying in this long and the skin is growing over them. And now he has little pockets of infection around several of the stitches. I counted and he still has almost 30 stitches in there!!!! So I am taking him tomorrow and I am going to DEMAND that something be done before he gets in the same shape he was before!!!

Not really any sewing today! I did work a little bit on a basket and I got all of my things out to work on my Civil War Diary quilt. Hopefully, I will make some progress on it within the next few days.

I'm sooooooo tired!!

This is my first post for the weekend. I usually post pretty much everyday but I have been working my butt off! We decided to fence in a little more of the property, to make the horse pastures bigger. So we decided to do one side at a time, since we have to keep some of the horses seperated. We started with the side were we keep Ole Jim and Bullet. We started on Saturday and finished up today! This was a little over a mile around it and we fenced with two strands of barbed wire. And let's just say this is not flat or clean land that we fenced...completely wooded area! The photos are a little bit dark but you can get an idea of what I am talking about.

And here is a photo of Hunter with his BB Gun that he had to take with him while we were fencing on Saturday. Before anyone freaks out...it is a BB Gun and I had the BB's in my pocket and he only shot it when we were taking a break and we were right there with him. Oh, and Andrew missed all of the fun because he was at his uncle's all weekend.

I recieved this wonderful package from Carla. I had mentioned that I wanted to start the Dear Jane quilt so she sent me her book. She went through alot of work to make this book work for her. She had the spine removed and all of the pages are in plastic in this binder.

She also sent me this cute litte shelf sitter! It is soooooo cute! Right now I have him sitting beside my sewing machine but as soon as we get the house finished he will be displayed in my new sewing room!!!! So Thank You very much Carla for being so nice.

The only sewing thing that I got done this weekend was this bowl. I wrapped the clothesline while watching tv late at night. You can't really tell much about it from the photo but this is 100ft of clothesline.

Last but not least....if you haven't already make sure you register here for my 300th post giveaway. I will be drawing a name on May 16!!!!!
