Just to let you know my posts are a few days behind. This post will go up on Sunday but it's really Friday. This is just a little easier for me to get some posts done.
So today I pieced 19 more Garlic Knot blocks. This makes a total of 80 so far. Now I need 40 more and then I will sew them together. Planning on 10 blocks across and 12 blocks long, then I will add a border. I'm thinking that this will give me the size that I want. I will put it on the bed and if it's not big enough then I will just add another row of blocks.
I'm loving how fast these sew up. A good use of 2" squares and strips.
While sewing these blocks today I also pieced one more Scrappy Star block. I'm just sort of using it as a leader/ender for now.
I sewed most of the day and cleaned the house a little. LOL! Richard worked and Hunter cut the grass. Tomorrow probably will not be a "sew day" as I have a bunch of cucumbers that I need to make pickles with. Then on Monday we will be digging up the potatoes!
I know you are shaking your head but I started a new quilt. LOL! Actually, I think this one will go rather quickly. No pattern really but just a traditional block that can be made any size. This one is made from 2.5" squares, 2.5" HST, and the sashings are 2.5"x8.5" I have a bolt of the blue so I figured that I would use if for the sashings. Totally different from what I usually would use for sashings.
I also made 10 more Garlic Knot blocks. This take my total up to 61. I think I will need 120 of them.
I had a really good sewing day.
I took Hunter to get his Freshman schedule. :( Breaks my heart that my baby will be starting high school next week. We start early here because we miss so many snow days during the winter. School starts August 3rd. We had to pick up his schedule, pay book and locker fees, and also walk around and try to find his classes. Shew....
My design wall this Monday morning is a little bit of a mess. Lots of odds and ends on there. Just several different projects in the works.
First off is my Wheel of Fortune or Road to Fortune, it is called both. This is the UFO that I started working on the other day. I still only have 4 completed blocks done but have a few more half blocks ready. I do love this one but I think I need a better selection of scraps than I currently have so that may make this one a slow finish as I gather scraps.
Then at one point I got a little bored but didn't really want to drag out anything major to work on. I made 2 more blocks for my scrappy stars. We are making 2 blocks a month so these will be for October, but by the time October comes around I will probably make a couple more. These are great to use up those scrap 2.5" squares.
I've also added a few more bowties. I can't remember my exact count right now but I have it written down upstairs.
I also worked on my block for Barbara Brackman's block of the week. I made the block that was posted last week, it is the one on the bottom. The one for this week is a hard one, so I will try to get it done sometime this week.
Last but not least, I pulled another UFO out to work on. This one is an older scrappy bargello, (quiltville pattern) that I started doing in greens. I had to do a ton of pressing because it was all smashed in a box.
I had 11 blocks finished and the strips sewn together for another 13 blocks for a total of 24 blocks. Well, now I know why I put this one away....I didn't have enough green strips to make the 48 blocks that I had intended. :( I will work on it as far as I can get with what I have.
I pulled a few more green strips from my 2.5" strip tote and now I have enough for a total of 30 blocks. I may be able to get one or two more done over that but for now that it all. I will just get it as far as I can and see how I like the size. My biggest problem is the OCD in me that wants it to come out even on the sides and bottom. LOL!
So that is what I have on my design wall! To see what others are working on go over to Judy's blog and take look.
Oh, I got a few more pillowcases in for donation, I'll post those in my next post! If anyone else is interested in donating pillowcases for a good cause, click on the tab at the top of my blog to read the details.

Just a quick little post to show you my new project! I know, I know, I don't need another one but I'm doing it anyway! :) Terry over at Terry's Treasures is doing a sew-along. These are my blocks for the Scrappy Stars Sew-Along. Only 2 blocks a month, so hopefully I can keep up with that. It just started for the month of August and you just make as many blocks as you want.
I first saw this on Michelle's blog and knew I had to join in. I have lots of 2.5" squares that I am tired of looking at them and some other scraps, so I figure the only way to get rid of them is to use them!
I wanted to make sure that I didn't use the same fabric twice in any block but look what I did in the first block! Oh well, once it is all put together hopefully I will never notice it.
Here is my second block. I have several 2.5" blocks and 3.5" blocks precut from scraps and leftover from other projects so this was perfect. And I also get to use up some background yardage that I was tired of looking at too.
I also have another star quilt that I want to start soon, but I need to make sure that I have enough white on my bolt before I start it.
I made one more basket, which takes me to 41 of them. I also found my cheddar bowties for some reason in my tote of 2.5" squares. So I got those out and made a few as I was piecing the star blocks.
Over the next few days my posts will probably be short. I have a visitor for a few days, so that will take up a lot of my time....see you soon....
Have a wonderful and Blessed day
