Quilts and Family

Not a whole lot going on here! The snow and ice finally melted and I did my weekly shopping today. That really messed me up! I have my routine and I hate when things get mixed up. I usually do all of that on Fridays, but I could not get the car out of my driveway!!! Oh well, enough of that!

This evening I cleaned up around my sewing machine and sat down and sewed a few more pieces to my Giblets quilt. Here is a photo of the pieces, I don't have them all sewn together but you can get an idea of how it is going to look. This is the quilt that my friend, Lisa and I are making together. She is doing hers in blues and tans and her blocks look great. Even though she lives in another state it is fun knowing that we are doing the same quilt. I'm not sure how large I will make this quilt, I guess until I either run out of the red or I get tired of making the blocks.

Richard worked a little more on the house today, while I was in town. Tomorrow afternoon we will be working on it a little more. I will be sawing while he is on the roof nailing! I tired to tell him before that I couldn't saw to get out of it, but he told me to pretend it was my rotary cutter and fabric!!! He is so silly, actually I don't mind using the saw, after all it is my house too! And it will mean more to know that we built it together.

Now on to an update on Smokey. He is adjusting well. Donkey wants so bad to play with him but I think he is scared of Donkey. They started out with one sleeping on the couch and one on the chair but over that past couple of days they have only gotten this close....

I'm sure in a few more days they will be best friends! At least Andrew is happy and that is all that matters to me!

Anyway, I am finished sewing for the night and we are having some special family time like we do every weekend. We have been watching some movies and playing CHECKERS! We are taking turns playing....Richard and Andrew are playing against each other and Hunter and I are playing each other. Hunter is keeping me very busy too, while the others are playing I have been reading him stories from his Children's Bible. He loves it, actually is was my Bible that my mom gave me for Christmas 30 yrs ago. So it is very precious to me and my kids. Both of them have been read the stories from it. So it has been a wonderful family night!

All the gifts in the world can't
replace the special time you spend with your children ,I wish other moms were as thoughtful and caring as you are .Through my volunteer work I see all kinds ,it's pretty sad .I enjoy hearing about your family times ,it just fills my heart happiness .

God is smiling down on you for being such loving, caring parents. I know many families that just go through the motions of parenting, and don't have special family times, or take time to play games or listen to their children. I think it is wonderful that you are reading the bible to your kids. It will make a difference. Everyone complains about how children have changed over the years and are disrespectful, and so on, and I agree, but it all has to start when they are very young, to be taught respect, and GOD has to be introduced early in their life. Parents need be involved in their children's activities, take time out of their schedules, spend good family time, and show respect to their children, and live a life pleasing to Him. Parents are, after all, molding and forming who they will become.

Bless you. I know your children will make you proud.

Smokey might just be wondering why he isn't the center of attention too. He'll fit in soon.

AND, Kristie, your quilt is going to look just awesome! I love it!

I love the Giblets quilt! I guess you are paper piecing it? Looks like Smokey is fitting right in. I am sure the boys love family time and they will remember that when they are older.

What a good Motner and Wife you are to your family. You are happy and you make them happy. Wonderful that Smokey is starting to feel at home...won't be long until the two of them will be best buddies.

Keep on reading the Bible to Hunter...you are laying groundwork.

Great that the building on the house is moving ahead also.

What wonderful parents you and Richard are - and what a great family night!

And I love your red and white quilt. It's beautiful. I'm glad Smokey and Donkey are starting to get along.

Hope running that saw went well!

Can you arrange the blocks many ways and get different pattern?

I love that red. Lately I am drawn to red - don't know why but if there is a choice I pick red. Cute little dog. Its really hard to say no to you kids. Have fun playing games. I just picked up a new game called Buzz - ages 10-adult and it looks like it will be a good family game. I'll report back on that. Stay warm this week.

Love the quilt so far.
It's great when you spend time as a family. We try to but mal works such odd hours. It's my aim to spend more family time together in the New Year, whether they want to or not. LOL
