Warm and Cozy...

Today has been COLD and RAINY! I have had a fire in the fireplace all day. So nice and cozy warm in here. Just something about a fire on a cold day that is so relaxing.
I haven't had a chance to work on my "Tic-Tac-Toe" blocks today. Richard was home today, because they didn't have any coal to haul. I just can't get anything done when he is home as far as sewing goes. Anyway, I did get my binding done on the quilt that I quilted yesterday.

I was counting my tops that still need to be quilted and how many that I have quilted and the total is still high, but much better than it was. I started 2009 with 75 quilt tops that needed quilted, I have quilted 26, and added 10 more tops that I have made this year. So in the end I still have 59 tops that need to be quilted. Still a long way to go but better than it was! :)

I found a wonderful blog called 365 days of free motion quilting! You really need to check out this blog if you like to do free motion quilting.

A Bit Of Progress!

Well, I have had a bit of progress today!!!! That is always a good thing! :) If you read my previous post, I started a new quilt EARLY this morning! Here are the blocks so far. I actually have 6 blocks finished now but didn't have it done at the time that I took this photo. These blocks are not hard just have to pay a little extra attention to make sure everything will line up were it is supposed to. In the photo they look so bright but I promise they are not!
So I worked on my blocks, cleaned the house, started supper and then quilted a quilt! Actually it is a lap size quilt for my sister and her dog for Christmas! Nothing fancy, just fabric with a border but the fabric is so cute, it has different dogs on it and also poodles.

I used this pantograph on it. It is called "Fleurs" It is really pretty in person, I like it a lot better on the quilt than I do on the paper.
Here is the back view of the quilt, maybe you can tell a little bit about the quilting design.
I really need to find my other camera cord, this camera doesn't take the best photos.

I have the binding cut and ready, maybe I will work on the tomorrow. This will be a Christmas gift so it will be great to be able to mark this one off my list!

Haven't picked up the hand quilting since early this morning. I'm thinking that it probably will not be done by Christmas....maybe Mother's Day!

Tic-Tac-Toe

Out of boredom.....I started a new quilt! :( That is probably not the best idea to start one but I couldn't help it. I got hubby up for work at 3:30am this morning and I just could not fall back to sleep after he left.

I started working on the hand quilting, but it was just much too early to get in to that! :) I would have loved to finish putting my Stacked Coins quilt together but I don't have the background fabric. I need to pick up a bunch of background fabric so that I will have it here when I need it. So anyway....I started looking through quilt magazines to find something that I did not have to have a neutral background for, and this is what I came up with!

This block is called "Tic-Tac-Toe" I have 4 blocks cut out and only one sewn together but hey, it is now only 5:30am!!!! Anyway, not sure how big I will make this quilt, lap or bedsize, just depends on when I get bored with it. It takes longer to cut the blocks out than it does to piece them together.
The boys go back to school this morning. I will miss them, I so enjoy having them home with me. But this will be a short school week for them.
