No sewing today! Today I watched my nephew, Zeph. This is my brothers youngest child, he is 13 months old. His babysitter couldn't watch him today. I really enjoyed him so much, he is such a sweetie. I hope to watch him again soon. Here is a photo of him on the couch sleeping.
I got my 5 inch charms back in the mail today. They are from a QIAD swap that we did. I got back 64 charms. I have right at 100 charm squares, so I will put them back for a quilt. I need to start looking for a pattern that requires 5 inch squares. I really don't want to just sew all of the squares together. I know there are pattern books just for charms, maybe I'll look on ebay.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Tomorrow being Friday, I will be doing my weekly shopping. Then the boys will be off for the next 9 days for Fall Break. So, I probably won't get alot of sewing done next week either. Oh, a few days ago I ordered another horse pattern. I know I really need to finish my boots and hats first, but I wanted this pattern anyway. My plan is to make the horses look like my own horses, but with Ole Jim being a mule, I will have to figure a way to make the ears longer.

Oh Kristie....he is sooo cute! I am glad you had a good day today...even if you didn't sew much. I have a pattern or two for charm packs...mostly table runners.

Oh what a little sweetie he is. I have one pattern for a table runner for charm packs and I'd be happy to send you a copy. I can't wait to see how you change the horse pattern so one of them looks like "Jim".
Kristie,
There are two books out that are exclusive to 5" squares. The first one is called Nickel Quilts, and the second one is called More Nickel Quilts. The author of Nickel Quilts is Pat Speth and Charlene Thode. The second one is by Pat Speth. You won't believe this, but Char and Pat only live about 40 miles from me, and about six years ago, when we started quilting, my friend Christie, who worked at a law firm with Char, asked Pat and Char to come to our little quilting group. They came, and it was a great time! We were all just starting out quilting, and the day went too fast. The things they taught us were priceless, and we were all a bit nervous, but so enjoyed the day. Pat is on her own now, but as they say....see how small the world is!
These books are great, and if you check on Amazon, you can click a link to 'search inside the book' to see what you think.
Your nephew is a cutie! I just love huggin' and kissin' them at that age!
Have a great Friday! Michelle
Kristie,
I just got the Nickle quilt book that Michelle mentioned and it looks like a great book with lots of possible patterns from their 'standard patches'. I hope to start mine next month with some 5 inch squares I have. Your nephew is very cute, glad you had a good day with him.

He's a cutie! I have a charm table runner I could send you. You could easily expand those into quilt patterns. There's also a method where you sew them into a nine patch; then cut down the middle of the 2nd row at the top and side; it gives you corner stones and lattice or you can turn them different directions for a scrappy appearance. I can send you those two too.
Wow he's a cutie! I know there are a ton of charm square patterns out there. I got ousted before I ever got to join a nickle group on yahoo, because I said they were 5" squares. I didn't say "top quality quilt shop quality fabric". Apparently they didn't want me, but oh well, my other groups are a lot better and less picky!
