Such a terrible storm...

First off, there are no photos, I'm not even sure how long my internet will stay on right now. I live in Kentucky and as you all know we were hit with tons of tornadoes yesterday. We are okay and I thank God for watching over us but at the same time I feel so horrible that so many of our friends and neighbors have lost everything....some even their lives...

Yesterday evening as the storms started, mom and my sister came out here to wait out the storms with us. It was a very scary time for us all. At one point we got word that the tornadoes were on the ground a few miles away from us and we were directly in their path. We even went as far as to move the mattress next to the bathroom so that we could cover with it quickly in the bathroom. Richard stayed on the front porch watching for funnel clouds. We had extremely heavy rains, huge hail, high winds and lightening. It is so scary when you can stand and watch the tornadoes pass by on both sides of your house!!! You immediately thank God for protecting your family but also pray for your other family members and neighbors that you know that is in its path.

There is so much damage here, it is hard to put it into words. The power, phone, and internet services are nonexistent most of the time. So it is hard to check on family and friends. We did talk to my brother right before the storms hit and he and his family were under a bridge trying to wait it out. They were Blessed and stayed safe!!! But that is not the case with so many others.

My aunt and cousins had lots of damage but they were not injured. So many friends that have lost everything. One of our good friends lost so much. Somehow he was caught outside when it happened and his wife and kids were in the house. The house and barn were total losses. His wife and kids are okay but he had a bad cut on the head and a bone sticking out of his leg. He had surgery this morning to repair that. His horse was found dead and literally wrapped around a tree!

The good people beside them were not as lucky. It dumped their house on it's top in the middle of the road. The elderly woman and her 14 yr old granddaughter lost their lives. The elderly man was flown out to a hospital and is critically injured. So sad....

We live in a very rural area with lots of hills and trees. It just saddens your heart when it is dark and you can see tons of flashlights in the hills where people are walking around looking for loved ones or when you can hear people yelling for help.

That is all for now, I'm afraid that my internet will go back off at anytime. Please just keep everyone in your prayers....trust me they need it and appreciate it so much!

Kristie, I'm so sorry to hear this! So glad you are all okay. My brother lived within a quarter mile of the Joplin tornado last year, and it was so horrible. You will all be in my prayers for sure as your community heals and recovers. xo

Kristie, I am so glad to hear that you and your family are ok. This has been a bad year so far and spring hasn't even started yet. It is so sad to see pictures of the destruction and read the stories about those injured and lost. I will have your area in my prayers. Lord be with us all, because we have a long way to go before storm season is over.

I thought about you when I heard where the storms hit. And today I saw where you got snow on top of the rest of the damage. My thoughts are with you. We had a terrible tornado go through our little town here in Arkansas 3 years ago and some families are still rebuilding.
