A Good Weekend.

It has been a busy couple of days...lots of photos! First off here is my oldest, Andrew in HIS chicken coop! He has several different sets of chickens in there but I caught his talking to them!!! :)

Here are photos of Richard and Hunter! Doesn't Richard look HAPPY!?! Hunter painted Richard's face up so that they could play Army! I'm sure Richard will kill me for putting his photo on here! But that just shows what a good Dad that he is.

Here is a photo that I took the other day out by the pond. I was picking apples and I just thought it looked so pretty with all of the fall colors! We had a wonderful time picking apples, I put up 12 more quarts!!!

Now here are some photos of the house. We had a friend come over and help us get some of the large beam rafters up. We still have a few more to put up but Richard has to saw them. Richard and Andrew also got the back half of the plywood down and the roofing felt, so that should protect the roof until we can get the metal roofing in the spring. We still have to finish the front half of the roof but hopefully we can get that done in the next few weeks.

As you can see Richard was on the steep part of the roof with a rope and Andrew was holding it. I was sooooo nervous! Richard kept telling me he would be fine that he did it all of the time when he was in the Marines but I was still scared. And here is another photo of my future sewing room!!!!

And now on to some quilty news! I am working on a few blocks today but they are not finished yet. And also here is a photo of my other quilt that I started the other day. It is called "Diagonal nine patch" from the Winter issue of Fons & Porter's Easy Quilting. I took a photo of the magazine because I don't really have enough of it finished to show.

Hopefully I will have some quilty photos to show later tonight. We are busy today...Richard spent the morning cutting some trees and pulling them to the sawmill. The boys are off school this week, so Andrew is helping Richard at the sawmill. We are trying to get another load of railroad ties cut to sell on Wednesday. They have been up working since 5am, and I have been working back and forth between the house and the sawmill, with very little sewing getting done.

Sounds busy around the Layne household. Guess the boys will enjoy the fall break from school too. Andrew can help Richard with the wood and working on the house.

Putting up the apples will mean enjoying them later on during the cold months....just think warm apple pie...sounds so good.

Busy family. Sounds like everyone has something to do. That is good. I know you can't wait to get in your new sewing room. Fried apple pies will be good this winter, or even the fired apples and biscuits. The Nine Patch will look pretty.

Wow the roof is steep, I would also have been worried.

Wow! You really are a busy bunch! Andrew talking to his chickens just shows what a compassionate person he is. You should be proud! Richard also gets extra points for being an extra special daddy. For sure, Huntere will remember this all his life. You should be proud of everyone at your house!

So who painted Hunter's face?

You make me feel like a slacker! But you are getting so much accomplished on your house - it's looking awesome! Love the picture in the magazine of your new quilty project - that is going to look great! And what a great Dad to play army with Hunter!

Richard is a good dad! I'm sure Hunter loves and appreciates him for it! Doesn't it just make your heart melt?! I love it when my husband plays with my daughter and gets her laughing or squealing with delight. It melts my heart and makes me fall more in love with him!
