I Did It!

I did it! I finished my 20 blocks for March! I was hoping for 20 blocks for this month so I pulled one more out at the last minute! This one is called "Premium Prize" another very easy block. Things will probably go slower now, since there are not many easy ones left. So that is 20/121 blocks done, I should have tried for one more and that would have left me with an even 100 to do.

Hopefully, I can get a good start for April.

Monday's Blocks!

I have been very lazy today! I got the boys off to school this morning, fed the animals and hit the couch! Dozed off and woke up at almost 1pm!!! I had such a headache for a while. Jumped up cleaned the house, started dinner and made two Civil War blocks!

Now these two make me 19/121. The first one is called "Mail Delivery"

This one is called "Surrender Of Vicksburg"
Both were fairly simple blocks. My goal for March was to have 20 of these done, so I'm hoping to try to squeeze one more out tonight after everyone goes off to bed.

I talked with the lady from WV Quilts and she is bringing me some more FQ's this weekend to the quilt show. She will have a both set up there, she had mentioned before that if I needed anything special to call her before the show and she would bring it up there since I have to drive so far to get to her shop. Her shop is having a 30% off sale this week and she said just to bring the coupon with me and she would give me 30% off at the show. I thought that was very nice!!

Oh and more exciting news!! You all know that I don't have a quilt shop close to me, but I was in town the other day and I saw where they are putting some kind of fabric shop in. The sign says "Fabric Outlet" and another sign says "Quilting fabrics" but it is only open on Saturdays, so as soon as they open the doors, I will have to check it out!!!!! I will probably go broke having fabric this close to me!!!

Playing In Dirt!

No quilting today! This is the mess that we have been playing in today! Actually, this was part of the horse lot but we moved the fence over and cut down some trees, we had to use a backhoe to dig the root-balls out. We still have alot more to do, like pile it all up and burn it, smooth it out and cover with gravel. We are planning on parking the tractor and 2 or 3 of the trailers over there so that they will be out of the way.

Hunter will be going back to school tomorrow. I dread it for him, he is still very uncomfortable in pants. I will be taking him to school in the morning and I am going to tell them that I don't want him having his gym class until after he goes back to the doctor. He still has his stitches in.

This morning we had a nice visit from my cousin and his wife. They are super nice people so I always enjoy them coming. And last night Chantal came out for a while, she brought her puppy to play with Donkey. She had Zoey, the puppy, wrapped up in a blanket so you know what that means....I will have to make a puppy quilt!!!!!

Other than that, I have done nothing! Hopefully, tomorrow I can jump in and get the house cleaned early and then I can get some sewing done. I would like to get at least 3 more blocks done on my Civil War Diary Quilt. I had a mental goal of 20 blocks for March and I have 17 of them done.

3 More Civil War Blocks!

Last night I talked to Sandy, guild president, because I had missed the meeting on Monday due to Hunter's surgery. We will be starting a "Mystery Quilt" soon, I think it will be lap size! And also we will be doing a "Stack-n-wack" I really like how those turn out and that will be one that I haven't done before. So both will be pretty exciting to me.

Next weekend is the quilt show in Paintsville. I wanted to have a quilt ready for the show, but I just didn't get around to it. This is the same show that I entered my "yo-yo quilt" in a couple of years ago and won 1st place. I always enjoy going to see all of the different quilts, I find it very inspiring. It is a small show, but a very nice one.

Also last night, Chantal and her best friend Crystal...aka...Minual, came out to visit for a while. (Hunter called her Minual when he was a baby, not sure how he got that out of Crystal, but it stuck! Her mom even calls her Minual now!) She brought her little poodle, Zoey out to play with Donkey for a while. They love to chase each other! We had a great little visit and actually, she just called again, to say she was coming back out in a few minutes to sit around.

I talked to Mom for a few minutes today before she lost cell signal! I miss her already! I think that may be why Chantal has been out at my house for the past two nights. She misses mom too, and she lives with her so it is probably harder on her than me.

This evening, I just finished up 3 more Civil War blocks! Yeah!!!! These were not really hard, just time consuming as usual.

This one is called "Southern Notes"
"Hiring Help With Some Bartering"
This now makes me 17 blocks! I had set me mental goal for 20 by the end of March! So with only 3 more to go, I just might make it. The bad part is, I will probably start slowing down on them since I have done most of the easy ones! :) But as I said before, I am in no hurry to get this quilt done, I just want to take my time and have it done neatly.

I also can't wait to get my kit in that I ordered last night from Connecting Threads. It is called "Madder Storm At Sea" Just a wall hanging, but I love the fabrics. I figured I would do better by ordering the wall hanging, since I could do it faster than I could a large quilt, so this way it just MIGHT get finished! Anyway, it should be here somewhere around mid-week!

I guess that is about all for tonight, I need to clean my mess up before Chantal gets here...

Wallhangings and Books!

It has been rainy ALL day! Actually, a few minutes ago we had some hail. I have had a chance to sew any today, I have been doing some much needed house cleaning. I even mopped the kitchen and bathroom! And of course, Hunter and I took a nap! Fixed some quick cheeseburgers and onion rings for dinner and then went to mom's for a few minutes this evening. She had been gone most of the day and she will be leaving for work in the morning! She kills me...while I was out there she asked if I wanted her dishes! Dishes?? She said "I'm tired of them so if you want them, clean your cabinets out before I get back home and you can have them." She is going to buy ALL new dishes! Now, mom is very picky with things like that and they are very nice dishes and they are just a few months old! Crazy thing! Of course, I want them!

Anyway on to some quilty things! I know I don't need any more projects but you know how we quilter's are, we just can't get enough! I just ordered a wallhanging kit from Connecting Threads! I love this new fabric line, "Root Of The Madder" The wallhanging is called "Madder Storm At Sea" I can't wait to get it! I LOVE the colors!

Oh and a week or so ago, while my computer was down, mom and I went up to the bookstore. This is the bookstore where I trade my historical romance novels in after I read them for more! They trade on the used books but they have a huge selection of new books. So we were looking around in the new section and I found the discounted section! They had several quilt books! I wish that I had bought more than what I did, but maybe I can start picking up one or two everytime that I go, not that I know they have them! I only bought three, but they were priced between $20-$25 each and one of them I paid $2.95 and the other two were $3.95! So I was very happy!

This is the first one "Two-Block Theme Quilts" It has close to 100 pages and 10 patterns!

This one was the cheapiest but it is still a nice one and it has 15 patterns.
This one is my favorite! "Scraps Of Time" It has 9 projects in it. The quilt on the cover is my favorite and it has several others that I like also.
This quilt is also in the book, I really like it too. But if I made it I would use different fabrics of course.
But I was sooooooo happy with my books and I can't wait to go back up there! Hopefully, I can make the trip again in a couple of weeks!

Here is a photo of Donkey snoozing in the chair a few minutes ago! He loves to sleep on his back! He is doing much better. The vet said that he has gained 3lbs since we got him from the shelter! That makes me so happy!

Anyway, I guess that is all for tonight! I need to finish some laundry before bed!

Another Quilt Book!

I know I need another quilt book like I need another hole in my head, but I just couldn't resist! This is "The Amish Circle Quilt" by Rosemary Youngs the same author as the "Civil War Diary Quilt" It also has 121--6 inch blocks in it. While at mom's we found it on the internet on the EdwardRHamilton website for only $4.95!

I had nice visit with mom and Chantal! I am going to miss mom so much when she leaves again Friday. Those 28 days that she is gone feels like 28 months! Anyway, we had a great time and I think Hunter really needed to get out of the house, even if he was naked!

Now we are back home and I am watching American Idol with the boys! No more sewing tonight but hopefully, I can get another block or two done tomorrow!

Today's Block!

Here is the Civil War Block that I finished today! I know it's only one but I'm in no hurry with this quilt. This block is called "Oath Of Allegiance" Again, this is a very simple block but it still took me about 45 minutes. I am very slow at paper piecing!

I haven't had alot of time to work on my blocks today. I had a dentist appointment this morning, nothing major there so I was happy with that. Then I drove on the Hunter's school to pick up his work, he has a ton of homework! We spent a few hours working on that today. He is still very sore and still can't wear any clothes. I'm sure he will be fine by Monday, that is when he will go back to school.

I am heading out to mom's in a few minutes. She will be leaving Friday morning and she has alot of errands run tomorrow so I've got to get in a little extra "Mommy Time"

Tuesday's Night Of Sewing!

Finally after sitting around all day thinking about sewing, I did it! I didn't get alot done, but I did get two more of my Civil War Diary Blocks done. The first one is "Special Blessings". As you can see on the bottom of the block is my selvage end. I really cut that one close, but it will still work out fine, since it will be in the seam allowance.

This one is called "United No Longer" Both were very simple blocks and went together fairly quick. These make 13/121 blocks finished.
I have a dentist appointment at 8am in the morning so mom is coming out here to my house to sit with Hunter. He can't sit in his booster seat because of the strap that comes up between his legs. Luckily yesterday he was still knocked out and couldn't feel it on the way home.
Hunter is feeling much better today. No vomiting! He is starting to eat very lightly. But he is VERY sore! So he is running around in a t-shirt and socks.
Hopefully, tomorrow after my appointment I can get a couple more blocks done.

Oh, What a day this has been!!!

I'm so tired and soooooo stressed out! This has been such a long hard day! First I will start by telling you about Hunter's surgery. We arrived at the hospital around 6am, he was taken back and prepped for surgery. The actual surgery only lasted about 30minutes. I held it together until they took him back to the operating room, I had to turn my head to cry so that I wouldn't upset him. The surgeon came out at 8:30, said all went fine and he was in recovery. So he sent us back to be with him and said he would be ready to leave in less than an hour. Then the surgeon was called out for emergency surgery at another hospital. As soon as Hunter woke up he started kicking and screaming! They had to line the bed around the bedrails with pillows to keep him from hurting himself! They were giving him Morphine and it was just like he had nothing for pain! I am the same way with Morphine! They had to wait for some of it to leave his system before they could give him a stronger pain medication. That was so hard to sit there and watch him scream, knowing that I could do nothing to help him.

Then he started vomiting constantly! Even with an ice chip he would vomit as soon as it hit his stomach. Then he wouldn't wake up because of the other pain medication and when he did he was complaining of his chest hurting. The nurse called for the recovery doctor that was on call and he didn' t have a clue! I think he was actually getting nervous about Hunter having so much pain. At one point he looked and me and Richard and said "I don't know, maybe if he gets worse you could bring him back tonight or call....well, I don't know, what do you all think?" I was sooooo mad. In the end Hunter was in recovery from 8:30am to 12:30pm! It is now 7pm and he is still vomiting and has not been able to hold anything down, not even his pain medication! I have a feeling this will be a long night for him. I'm afraid that he will get dyhdrated. He has not had anything in his system since 10pm last night!

Now for more bad news, I will back up several hours. We got up this morning at 3:45am to make the trip to the hospital and since we didn't know how long we would be gone, we decided to go ahead and feed the horses. Well, you may know where this story is chocolate horse did not make it! Richard went out at 4am and he was down and passed away a few minutes later! I was so upset and mad! It was such a sad thing to happen, he had once been such a beautiful horse! Richard called one of his friends that early to see if he could come and bury him while we were gone to the hospital. We really hated to put that on someone else but Hunter really couldn't miss this appointment! So when we arrived back home all was taken care of and he now rests down beside Eb's Private Treaty (another one of my horsey babies that we lost at the age of 24)

I am so ready for this day to end!

Our New Babies Have Arrived!

First off, Hunter is still sick so we didn't go to church with mom this morning. Since he is feeling so bad I guess you could say we had a "Redneck Easter Egg Hunt" :) We hid the eggs in the house because it was so cold outside. Here is one of the photos!!!! Even though we did it in the house, Hunter still had a great time. Oh and this is Andrew's deer that he killed this past Fall, we just got it back from the taxidermist last week! He is very proud of it.
I didn't get alot of sewing done last night like I had wanted too. Hunter and I colored the Easter Eggs and played around, I did finally finish my stitchery that I was working on and I started another one this morning. This next one will probably take me a few days to finish.
Now....Our new babies are finally here! Richard left to pick them up earlier and he called on his way home to prepare me for how the Chocolate one looks. If you remember I said that the guy that we got him from had sold him and had just got him back. I know Terry had told us that he looked terrible but I never thought that he would look this bad. He has been pretty much starved down. That man that had him should be very ashamed of letting this poor horse get this bad. I think Terry was pretty mad about it too. Anyway it will be a long road ahead if he makes it. We will just have to do the best we can to get him on the road to recovery. One of our other horses looked ALMOST that bad when we got it. We worked hard to get the weight back on him and now the vet says he is too fat! Of course, I'm only putting the photo on here that shows his head, I just don't have the heart to show you the rest of him...yet. I had a few other names in mind to name him but after seeing him I'm thinking either "Chocolate Blessings" or "A Chocolate Miracle" Because it will be a miracle and a blessing if he makes it.

I still love the horse and at least here he will be taken great care of and loved. Hunter is so happy with his new horse too. He has named him "Jingle Bell" I'm not sure how he came up with that but it is his so we let him name it. Now, Jingle Bell is fat as mud!!! We will have him gelded soon, but the other one is just in no shape to have a surgery right now. These aren't the best photos but they kept walking around checking things out.

I will spend the evening getting Hunter ready for his surgery in the morning. He is scheduled for 6:30am. I know that is early but since he can't have anything to eat or drink before so the earlier the better. I think I dread it worse than he does, with him only being five he doesn't have a clue as to what surgery means. I'm sure he will be a little sore afterwards.

Up All Night!

Here is a photo of my baby at 2am this morning! I have been up all night with him, he has been very sick. Coughing, sore throat, and very high fever. It is now 12:30pm and he has just now fallen asleep.

His temp went up so high around 4am that I had to put him in the bathtub to get it down. It breaks my heart when my kids are sick and you feel like you can't do anything to make them feel better. I am wondering if they will do his surgery with him so sick. Of course, with it being Saturday the doctor is not in, I called the hospital to see what they thought. They said, it would be up to the doctor. If he was real congested and sick then they would probably reschedule it. So she said to bring him in at his regular surgery time on Monday morning. The doctor scheduled his surgery for 6:30am on Monday. Hunter will be his first patient of the day. He said he wanted to do him first because he is a kid and he can't have anything to eat or drink before the surgery and it is much harder on little kids to have to wait and they don't understand why they can't eat or drink. I think that was very thoughtful him to think that.

I really wanted to work on my Civil War Diary Quilt today but my butt is dragging after no sleep. Maybe I will get some energy later and work on it. I also have another small stitchery that I need to finish. Actually, if I just sat down to work on it, I could have it finished in 30 minutes or less. I am really liking doing these little stitcheries. I think I will put some in some primitive looking frames and maybe make a wallhaning or two. With them being so small they make wonderful take along projects.

This Is What I Have Been Working On...

This is what I have been working on the past 2 weeks! Mom and I went to a quilt shop called "WV Quilts" I would add the link but they don't have a website. I bought reproduction fabrics for my Civil War Diary Quilt.

This is a quilt that I have been wanting to do for a long time. It has 121- 6 inch blocks. I know this is a quilt that I will be working on for a long time, but I'm in no hurry. I love this quilt!

Here are some of the fabrics that I bought at WV Quilts. This first photo is all fat quarters. Can you believe this was the first time that I have ever bought fat quarters!

I bought 2 sets of these charm squares. Of course, I just love the pink and brown. With the blocks only being 6 inches, I thought I could use alot of these in it.

On the way back, we stopped at "Sew Many Blessings" they only had a few Civil War Fabrics. I bought 2 fat quarters, but I'm not sure if I will use them in this quilt or not, they just don't seem to go real well with my others.

Like I said there are 121 blocks in this quilt and so far I only have 11 done! At least it is a start...11/121. All of them are paper pieced except for 2 of them.

I think this is a quilt that I will work on quiet often, but I'm sure that I will work on others at that the same time. I have just been skipping around on the blocks and not really doing them in any certain order. Actually, I have been doing most of the easier ones. :)

More Catch Up!

Yesterday was a bad day for us. I had a doctor appointment yesterday morning, nothing major just a check up for blood pressure. One the way home I followed the ambulance out but it had gone on past my turn off for the house. You always wonder when you see one, if they are going after someone that you know.

So I was home about 15 minutes when my sister calls me. She works at a doctors office so they had got a call from the ER for the doctor. They had Hunter's school on lockdown! Living in a very small community this school has kindergarden thru the 8th grade in it. Several of the 5th graders were sick. Breaking out in a bad rash, vomiting, and trouble breathing. It later had spread to some of the other classes. I couldn't pick up my kid and I couldn't find anything out about him. I felt so helpless! They wouldn't let you anywhere near the school. The had several ambulances, medical teams, and chemical people there. The news showed them walking around in their little space suit looking things. The hospital was even on lockdown at one point. The set up a tent outside the back emergency entrance for a decamination room. The bad part is some of these parents didn't even know that their kids were even being taken to the hospital.

I still don't know what it was, I think they are looking more at a chemical type thing. But they didn't even cancel school today. I didn't send Hunter! Until they can tell me what it was and make sure it is out of there, I won't send him. I've heard that there are only a handful there at school today!

Hunter is fine! They finally put them on the bus, as soon has he got home, I made him strip his clothes off on the front porch and put him straight in the shower. Thank God, that Richard came home to be with me. I was a mess! I called him when I found out and I was screaming crying and he came straight home to be with me while we waited. It is a very scary thing when you can't find anything out about your child in a situation like that.

Now on to something else! We still haven't got our new horses yet! :( With Richard's work schedule and the other guys work schedule and then we are having to fence off another pasture area for them. They are both stud horses so we really need to watch were we put them. Hopefully soon we will have them!

Do you all remember when I took Donkey, the cat to the vet? Remember he was passing blood? Well that is over and he is better with that. But after the vet visit he was holding his head sideways and his balance was completely off. You know they say a cat always lands on their feet, well he didn't! So naturally I think he must have either an ear infection or just fluid in his ears because they squirted them full to clean them. So a day or two went by and he was only getting worse. I took him back to the vet and he said he had a PERFORATED EARDRUM! So this had to happen when his assistants were swabbing his ears! I was sooooooooooo mad! The vet gave him more meds and didn't charge me anything. But he is almost back to normal now, he is still alittle sideways!

Now some quilty things!!! I picked up these fabrics the day of Hunter's doctor appointment. I don't really have a clue what I will use these first ones for, I'll just stick them in my stash and use them someday!
This is a panel and I don't have a clue what I will do with it either but it was only $2, maybe I'll use it someday!
This is some fabric that Hunter picked out. He loved it, maybe I will make him a pillowcase or something like that.
And here are a couple of little stitchery things that I did a few days ago. I have some primitive looking frames that I think I will put them in.

I guess that is all for now. I have been working a little bit on my Civil War Diary Quilt, so I will post about that later.

I'm back!!!!!

I'M BACK!!!!!

Wow! It has been 16 days since my computer died! I finally got it back 16 days and $135 later I am back in business! I have missed you all so much! I have been lost too death! So I will have lots to talk about in the next few days so expect several posts!

First off, Andrew's doctor's appointment got rescheduled until April 18th. As a mother, I will just worry until I find something out with him. Hunter will have his surgery on the 24th!

So I guess this post will be about my birthday! In my last post that I posted from my mom's I mentioned a few gifts. Here is a photo of a beautiful card from Amelia! And Maureen sent me a wonderful card, a bag of Dove chocolates (that didn't last very long!), and a charm pack of paisley fabrics! I love paisleys, they are my favorite fabric designs! I just love all of them!

Then a few days later I recieved a gift from Jen! Another beautiful card and fabric! And the best part about it is the charm squares that Maureen sent has the same fabrics in them! I can't wait to use them!

It means so much to have friends like you all! You have become very special to me! I so enjoy reading everyone's blogs!

I am constantly asking my sister, Chantal when she is going to quilt with me. I always get a "I don't know, maybe someday" So on my birthday I spent the whole day with family and had lots of fun, so that evening Chantal called and said she was bringing something out. I asked what it was because they had already gave me gifts. She said, "I made you a quilt" I was shocked! I couldn't wait to see it! So here she came, knocking on my door with this!

She had baked me a cake and tried to decorate it like a quilt! Now, how sweet is that?? It brought tears to my eyes that she would even think to do that! I loved it!

I had a wonderful birthday! Thank you all so much for the gifts and birthday wishes!

Oh by the way! I have Hunter trained! You can ask him how old his mommy is and he says... "26" Richard laughs at me, but we won't tell anyone that I really turned 36! :)

My Computer Died!!

Hello Ladies

Right now I am at my mom's house using her computer. Monday afternoon, my computer DIED! I heard a loud pop and then I started smelling something odd. It was my computer tower! So today I dropped it off to be fixed. He said it would be several days before he could get to it. So I may not be on the internet for a few days...

Today was Hunter's appointment. The doctor said it was too bad to do in the office so he has surgery scheduled for the 24th! He also said he had to completely knock him out for the surgery! I dread it sooooo bad! He also said he would be very sore for a few days and would not be able to wear his jeans, pj pants or sweat pants only! I could just cry of the thoughts of him being put to sleep! I know he will be fine, but being put to sleep in one of my biggest fears!

Today was also a great mail day!!! I recieved a beautiful birthday card from Amelia and a card, Dove chocolates, and a beautiful set of 5 inch charm squares with PAISLEYS on them!!! I love PAISLEYS!! I took photos of them but of course I left my camera at the house! As soon as I get my computer fixed I will post some photos. Thanks so much ladies, it feels truly nice to have such wonderful friends like you all!

Well, I need to get on home now, hopefully I will get to post more in a few days!

March's Block is started

Today I got my March Baltimore Blues block together. I have it ironed down but I haven't started the applique. I still need to finish the applique for the February block. I am very slow at this applique stuff, but I know my limits and if I want it to look neat then I need to go slow.

Richard worked on the house a little bit today, it was so nice outside, almost 70 degrees!!! I didn't take a photo to show the progress because it is hard to see. He got all of the floor joists down on the second story. Since I am afraid of heights, there is no photo of it. I told him I will not get up there until there are walls on that second story!!! I am a big chicken!!! He makes me so nervous when he is up there walking around.

After he finished with that we made the trip in to town to visit with his grandmother. We had a nice time with her and she so enjoys seeing the boys. She spoils them rotten! We hadn't been in there for about 2 weeks so she scolded us over that. :)

After dinner, Richard went on to bed and the boys and I headed out to moms. Had a great time out there! I took my applique block with me to show her and she really liked it. Other than that we just sat around playing with their new puppy. They still haven't named her yet. Here is another photo of her, she looks like she is showing-off, with her little leg held up!

Mom has to watch my nephew in the morning and I have to take Donkey to the vet. I will also be taking the new puppy for a check-up! Mom will be busy with the baby and Chantal has to work, but that is okay, I don't mind spending time with the little cute thing. Donkey needs to got the the vet, I noticed today when I cleaned his litter box that he was passing blood. He was wormed when he had his neutering done at the vet and his food has not changed so I think I will take him to see what is wrong. He acts fine, still running around playing and all but he shouldn't be passing blood. I told Richard, it would be my luck here I just got brave enough to touch a cat and now he may be bad sick!!! Hopefully I will find something out tomorrow!

Quilts, Puppies, and Donkey!

After Richard got home from work on Friday we drove up and picked up Breanna, my stepdaughter. She came down and spent the night, but had to go back today because she had a ballgame. What little bit of time we had with her was fun. Richard had to work today so he had to go on to bed and me and the kids headed out to mom's. She came home yesterday!!! I was so happy to see her. We sat around a talked for a few hours and I showed her everything that I had worked on since she had been gone. Of course, she loved it all, she is probably my biggest fan, you know how mothers are.

Today when we took Breanna back we stopped at Walmart and I bought some fabric to make Donkey a little quilt. He loves quilts and I thought this would be perfect to lay on the back of my couch. He wants to lay on one end of my couch back and sleep. I don't have it quilted yet, but that won't take very long. I just have to dig out some scrap batting.

My mom and sister got a new baby today!!! They went and bought a teacup poodle! $600, I thought I would crap! Anyway, I used to have one just like it and mom was so attached to her and cried so much when she died. Mom has always wanted one of her own so they went and bought one from the same people that I had purchased mine from several years earlier.

She is so cute! Right now she only weighs about 1 1/2 lbs and was born in November. So she should only weigh around 3 to 3 1/2 lbs. They still haven't named her yet, but she is just so darn cute! Richard told me not to get any ideas on getting another one.

I cut out my pieces for my Baltimore Blues March block, but I haven't got it together yet. So many pieces to it and I just got too tired to mess with it. So maybe tomorrow I will get it together.

I'm sorry that I am so far behind on commenting on everyone's blogs. I guess I was getting lazy and now I am so far behind I will never get caught back up. So I will start in the morning with everyone's new posts. Sooooo sorry!
