Here are my latest two blocks that I did this evening. Only 44 more to go!!!!! I know by the time that I get this quilt finish I will not care if I ever see another piece of Pink or Brown fabric!!!! Just kidding, I love brown and I think it looks great with pink but after making this many pink and brown blocks they are really getting to me... :)
A few weeks ago on the Civil War Diary quilt yahoo group, a lady named Mary had finished all of her blocks! What an accomplishment!!! Anyway she offered to give her scraps away! I have come to realize that quilters are some of the most unselfish people in the world. So yesterday I recieved the fabrics! I was amazed with the selection and they were all nice usable pieces! Most I can get several blocks out of them. As far as I know Mary does not have a blog, but here she is a complete stranger but was so nice to offer her fabrics. I will have so many nice memories in these quilts. I have recieved fabrics for them from...Toni, Carla, Cathi, Lisa, and Mary! I counted and there were 70 different repro fabrics and I only had one of them! How wonderful is that!
Other than my two blocks not alot going on here tonight. Hubby is kicked back in the recliner watching tv, Hunter fell asleep in the chair and Andrew went to a football game and went home with a friend. Me....I am bored! I made my two blocks and just can't bring myself to do another tonight, so now I am looking through quilt magazines and digging around on the internet!
Not sure what I will get done tomorrow. Hubby has to go help my uncle fix his sawmill. After that we are going to Richard's brothers house to pick up a truck! Several weeks ago Richard and his brother had a little trade and got me a truck! Now I say ME because several months ago we were going to buy a new car and I couldn't decide on what I wanted, then his brother ended up with an OLD truck, I told Richard that I wanted it. So they traded around on a few things and "I" got the truck!!! No cash, just trade!!!! Now this truck does run but I will not be driving it for a long time!!! See it is a 1951 GMC, needs lots of work to restore it and right now it looks like a crayon box, it is so many differnt colors! :) But it will be our "when we get old truck" Or as I like to say our "Mammy and Pappy truck" It is so old that the truck starts by hitting a switch and pushing a pedal/button on the floor! How cool is that? I will post photos of it after we get it. Of course it will be parked and tore apart to rebuild it piece by piece!

Your blocks look GREAT, and HOW FUN it will be to restore that old truck. I hope we'll still be bloggin' buddies at the end of restoration, and I will get to see the finished product!
Have a wonderful weekend!

This was an interesting post! An old truck, and life at the countryside. You are so clever with these blocks, it's impressing how determined you are to finish the quilt. And all those scraps, you are indeed lucky!
Have a wonderful weekend!
You will be noticed when you drive around in your truck. I am waiting to see the picture of it. Do you plan to fix it yourself?
Your blocks look fantastic! The fabrics you have received are great! I can just imagine the fun you have had looking at all of them and thinking about what they will look like in your quilts.
The truck sounds fabulous! I can't wait to see what it looks live and how it evolves. It sounds very exciting!
How awesome of Mary to give you the fabric! That is really great! And I can't wait to see pictures of the truck! I am sure it will be great when its rebuilt. I have to admit I have never seen a truck that starts that way!
Kristie, your going great on your blocks..you'll have them all done before you know it!
How lovely of Mary to pass on her fabrics to you...
My new quilt blocks are 6" finished because I'm using 2" strips, but with 2 1/2" jelly roll strips the blocks would be 8" and it would be a bigger quilt..
Keep stitching. Hugs julia
Hey I happen to be born in that year ,the trucks not that old LOL .ok so maybe I am older then dirt , but just like myself the truck probably has a few blemishes but still runs well .Have I got you convinced yet LOL .
Kristie...as always beautiful and only 44 to go you are on the down hill run...
Two more beuatiful blocks, I see - love the pink and brown. Lucky you inheriting fabrics.
Can't wait to see photos of your truck - am sure you will have a lot of fun in it in the days to come - will certainly be an eye-catcher!
