Well...toot!

Well.....toot! I really wanted to get this top pieced tonight. I had it planned to be 7 x 7 blocks, but I'm not real big on square quilts, but I figured that I would be cutting it close with the yardage that I had for it. I do have a little more fabric leftover and I'm hoping that I can squeeze two more rows out of it. If I'm short on anything it will be the beige print. I just had my heart set on getting it finished tonight but I don't think I will be happy with it being square. I still have 4 yards of the navy left and about 2 yards ( I think) of the red. I will also be cutting a 2" red border and a 6" navy border too. As you can see here, Smokey is checking it out too.I still need to press the rows but you get an idea of how it will look. I do like the quilt but I just want it to be a rectangle and it will fit my bed better too. I'm done for the night and we will be having some visitors tomorrow but hopefully I can try to do the other 14 blocks to make 2 extra rows.Thursday was actually Hunter's 9th birthday and we had his party the Saturday before so Thursday was spent as a "family day" I baked him another cake and later that evening we headed to the lake. Actually we live within 5 minutes of the lake so it wasn't that far. We had a blast! Hunter is trying to climb on Richard to turn his tube over! LOL!Hunter had his remote control boat with him too. He was chasing Richard with it!
A few geese went by...We stayed until late in the evening and had a wonderful time. Now I'm off to bed...

Kristie, your quilt is just beautiful. I am the same way about square quilts, always have to add extra rows since the beds are not square.

Love that quilt! I don't blame you for wanting it bigger. It always gets me when I find a really nice pattern and it's a square!? I always try and figure out how I can make it a rectangle.
Enjoy your company...we are going to Andy's Moms today..I'm in a hurry to get a quilt quilted so all I can think about is getting back home;)

I really do love your quilt - hope you have enough fabric to get it to the size you like. A day at the lake sounds like fun!

The quilt is beautiful - but I know what you mean about square vs. rectangle. Hope you can get it the size you want!

I love that quilt1 Is it a pattern you bought or did you make it up yourself? I think I would like to make one of those. That lake is so pretty, what a great family time. These are the times you and your boys will remember down the road. Carline

Your quilt top is looking great! I feel the same about square quilts...for a wallhanging square is okay, but for useable quilts, I like rectangle. I have a cat named smokey too. :P

Kristie, Quilt top is really a winner! I often insert an extra border to opposite ends of a quilt to make a rectangle out of a square pattern. What is the point of a square, bed-size quilt?
Love the lake--looks like a place for good family time!

Great quilt! Very pretty like everything you work on. Looks like a wonderful time at the lake was had by all....reminds me of my childhood at our camp on a lake. I love watching the ducks as babies grow all summer long.
