Here is Donkey, all comfy in his new home. It may be a shock to hear me say it, but I am so glad that I got this cat! He has come out of hiding and now acts like he has always been here with us. I got to thinking that he was probably just as scared of me as I was of him. I read on the papers that we got with him from the animal shelter and it said he was abused/animal cruelty. Now how sad is that? I didn't realize that when we got him, they may have told me but I was probably too nervous to listen. He is still a little bit poor, but his weight should pick up soon, he is eating great! Oh, and one thing I was worried about...he hasn't even missed the litter box!!!!Anyway, he now has a little blue cat collar on with a bell. This way I can hear him coming just in case I am in one of my moods and I will know where he is at all times. So far I have done great with him. I noticed Richard watching me pet him and smiling at me. He said he never thought he would see me pet a cat. That makes me feel great!
Haven't really sewn much today. I have been working on my sock monkey tonight while we have been watching a few movies. I almost have him done. Hopefully, tomorrow I will have a photo to post of it. That will be one more thing off of my January's To Do List. That will only leave one more project on the list that I wanted to finish for January and that is my Village Sampler and I can tell you right now THAT project will NOT get done this month!!!

Love those jingly collars...always know where the pets are.
HE is so cute. Abuse/ neglect is the exact reason that I adopted all of my kitties. My two tortie's I got from the pound (owner relinquish) and Lilly I got from an adoption agency that found her.. I'm not fond of people that don't take care of pets if they get pregnant either.. mine are all fixed so that I don't have to worry about them.. and the vet says that they live longer too.

Kristie, I am a firm believer if you harm animals you will sooner or later hurt people. That is wonderful he is settling in and you are adjusting as well. Truly a victory for both of you. How old did the vet think he is? To me, he does not look very old - but that could be because of being underfed.
It won't hurt a thing to miss sewing for a day or to...just relax...listen to the kitty purr!
Oh I'm so happy that you now love Donkey. I knew eventually you'd just be petting him and think nothing of it. Wait until you see how much company he is going to be when the boys are in school and you start talking away to him. I bet he takes up a spot and watches you sew too. Just think today he's Donkey tomorrow he could be the quilting cat.
Yay Kristie! Good for you. Doesn't it feel good to overcome your fears? I bet you will become good friends very soon!
Way to go Kristie! It is hard to overcome some things but it sounds like you are doing a great job with Donkey. He is adorable. I know now that he is with you and your family he will be loved and flurish. The bell was probably a great idea.

Looks like it's a good match for both you and Donkey.
Trust me quilts, quilters and cats are just meant to be together. Before long you'll all be feeling a home with each other.

Mal didn't really want Stanley but within a few days they were great buddies.

He is a lucky kitty to have you all to love and care for him.
Oh he is soooo cute ,why do be abuse those who can't fight back ,yea I know they are sick .he might have had a rough start in life but he's in a good home now .You'll have him fattened up in no time .
Kristie, congrats on overcoming your fear of cats! I knew you could do it. Glad Donkey is settling in and he is just going to love 'helping' you with quilting.... I think he needs his own quilt to make him feel at home.
